Tara: What's so bad about them coming here? Aren't they good guys? I mean, Watchers, that's just like whole other Gileses, right? Buffy: Yes! They're scary and horrible!

If we're really lucky, they'll do it in that order...

Monday's US box office figures pretty much the same as last Monday, if you're interested:

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Total domestic + foreign gross is just over half the production budget after 11 days. It's not setting any records, but it does appear that it's going to break even in a reasonable amount of time if fan interest is sustained.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I'll be seeing it again on Thursday with a friend. I've seen it twice now (including the preview), and I'm psyched to see it again, but that may be it for me for a while--I have neither the time nor the money to see it again and again right now. Although, if it's still in theatres in a month, I'll do my best to catch it again.

ita, did you watch the video at that site? I don't really feel like watching a half-hour of tiny bits of footage from episodes I have in all their glory on DVD, but I'm curious to know what scenes were chosen.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I didn't watch it either. Mostly I enjoyed the comments. Some people -- just can't be educated.

I love comments by people who were so dismayed to be sharing a theater with fans of the movie/series, listening to them enjoy the movie, laugh at the jokes, etc. that they decided not to go a second time to make a point despite enjoying the movie themselves. Hopefully they're not too cool to handle the rental DVDs without making them freeze and shatter.

I can't even.

I've seen Serenity six times, I consider myself a Browncoat and I've talked up the movie to friends who didn't know what it was. I don't consider myself a crackhead for any of that behaviour. I've encountered plenty of people from other fandoms that are way craxier than every single Browncoat I've met. Buffy fandom, I'm looking in the rear view mirror at you. I think FF/Serenity is just the most recent. Every fandom suffers from what a friend of mine calls "SignMyBoobism".

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I've seen Serenity once but I'm gonna see it at least once more very soon. I think my record was Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which I saw in the theater 7 times.

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

I am one with JohnSweden.

Browncoats on the whole, far less craxy. At least the hundreds I have met.

I've heard secondhand reports of some excesses, but until I see Browncoat behavior rivaling that of the fans that went after Joss following Tara's death, I don't think they can hold a candle to some of the Buffy craziness.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Huh. Just wait until Serenity VII, The Undiscovered Country, when Jayne decides to bottom out for Dr. Tam, and right before he drops trou, BOOM, shot by crazed Kaylee.

THEN we'll see who goes Kitten.

That would be me.
