when i die, please bake my ashes into a brick and use me to hit fascists.

Was the little girl playing Young River the same one as in "Safe"?

I remember checking the stage directions in the shooting script right after I bought the visual companion this weekend, to see what the heck that injection was, and they didn't say anything useful about it there. I missed that there was a line mentioning it...thoroughly confused.

I also thought I saw Simon putting something in the mule. But what with Jayne later needing his spare clips that were in the compartment, I wonder if I thought it was Simon putting stuff there, when it was actually Jayne. I'll try to watch that more closely tonight.

So what are our chances of having all nine cast members plus whats-his-name The Operative, plus Joss and maybe Loni, on the DVD commentary? I'm anticipating great things on this DVD.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

No, Una. I checked IMDB, thinking the same thing.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I noticed one of the girls in young River's class was M'Zati (sp?) from Voyager (Borg girl that 7 of 9 took care of). I always liked her, so it was cool seeing her even though she didn't have anything to do.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I saw it again this weekend, and it was, indeed, much easier to watch Wash's death and the ensuing battle sequence the second time around. I didn't even really know what was going on the first time, because I was so numb with shock and grief, so I was glad to be able to watch the rest of the movie more closely this time.

Micole has a beautiful review here: [link] I've been reading a lot of reactions to the movie, but this is one of the few that really struck a chord with me.

Every time I think I have something to say about Serenity, I realize I don't. So I'll just be over here in the corner, with my inarticulate sorrow and joy, anger and love, waiting until I can see it again.

What is even happening?

I read Micole's review earlier. She made me cry.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Two different (but positive) takes from the webcomics world:

Tycho of Penny Arcade thinks Serenity is a good movie, but not for non-fans. (Which, he adds, is all the more reason for people to watch the series.)

Meanwhile, Dom at Megatokyo (rant on right side, below the completely unrelated strip) has never watched Firefly (or Buffy or Angel, for that matter) and absolutely loved it.

"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

And his song tag at the end is from the TV theme. That made me happy.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

The whole Kerfuffle with Whedonesque, Browncoats, Joss and CHUD got fandomwanked. It's hilarious.

What is even happening?

Oh, as usual, dear. It makes me want to petition to re-name this thread, "Serenity, now!"

I'm failing to see the humor, personally.
