You know, I've saved lives. Dozens. Maybe hundreds. I reattached a girl's leg. Her whole leg. She named her hamster after me. I got a hamster. He drops a box of money, he gets a town.

What is even happening?

88% rating a movie very good or excellent is merely solid? I think it's less than exceptional for this movie because of Browncoats and lesser fans, but in general I'd think it better than solid.

Mmm, I don't know. I'd almost expect it higher for this particular film. I would think that most of the first weekend fans were Ff fans. I know that regardless of what I thought about the movie, if a pollster were to ask me, I'd rate it really high, because "my" people are involved with it. I know that's silly, but I would.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I agree with you -- I think it's "less than exceptional for this movie."

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

One thing about Serenity I forgot to mention, I am really impressed by the girl who played young River. In look, voice and action she pretty much nails what one would expect River as a child to be like. (Moreso than her appearance in Safe, though it could be I'm already setup to expect child!River to be that way due to Safe.)

I wondered if they'd looped Glau's voice into those scenes.

Punishingly Intricate

Maybe I missed this in skimming the movie conversation but I was confused about what Simon was shooting up Mal with before they went on the bankroll heist. Or did I just imagine that happened?

It didn't sound like Summer's exact voice to me, but the tone and the diction seemed spot-on.

In three viewings, I've never seen an explanation for it. Anyone have any theories?

Yes! I forgot to ask that! Someone page Zenkitty and the shooting script cites!

I just assumed that was some sort of basic immunization/vaccination-type thing, though against what is a matter of speculation. I doubt he was worried about tetanus.

"Don' be e-scared"

No question that was Summer's voice. We did the same thing in "Safe." Had Summer loop the dialogue, then we pitched it up to make it sound slightly younger.
