Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I saw it in Evanston. It was a full theater, with lots of people in costume.

The scene where Wash was a leaf on the wind? everyone was cheering and laughing. I was thinking, "just wait," and mine was an evil laugh.

One thing I only noticed this time: When Jayne says, "Shepherd Book always said, 'If you can't do something smart, do something right.'" Then he takes a swig of booze and passes the bottle to Simon. So maybe he accepts Simon now.

Also, there seemed to be more special effects (except my crappy eye was making it difficult to see what was going on sometimes). When they were passing the Reaver ships, Serenity was trailing a bit of 'uncontained radiation' behind her - I think that was new.

There were some other places where I noticed tighter editing, but I can't recall them at the moment....

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

The Simon thing is a retcon and Joss has copped to it. There was interview I'll have to see if I can dig up where he was talking about how in the original script, we saw a bunch of guys rescue River and pass her off to Simon, like Simon told the crew, but he felt having a bunch of people in the beginning we never see again detracted from the flow of the story. So he changed it to Simon rescuing her.

Basically, the retcon probably wouldn't have happened if he didn't have to bring non-fans up to speed.

I griped about it a bunch in the Spoilers thread and I'm still not happy with it, but at this point I'm just accepting it as a concession that had to be made for the sake of this being a mass-market movie.

Which show did you see, tommyrot? I was at the 7:45 in Evanston.

Also, was annoyed that they cut off the last line. (The credits were also messed up, but that didn't matter so much.)

Me too. The big-ass theater (Century something?) across from the book store? I think that's the only theater in Evanston playing it.

I was sitting in the middle of the first row of the stadium seating (not the front section of seating).

eta: What was the last line?

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

What was the last line?

"Ewww, fucking girls is weird."

Evanston? I was right down the road from the two of you, at the Crown Village in Skokie! They had an interesting mix of trailers: Harry Potter and Narnia, but also the Ewan Mcgregor thriller ("Say"? "Saw"? Something like that), Jarhead, and Doom (hardly any sightings of Karl Urban in that trailer, damnit!).

People were laughing at the Doom trailer.

I was all 'WTF?' that they had copied the "first person shooter' aspect of it, down to the the gun being in the frame of the shooter POV shots.

But I'm not into FPS games, so what do I know?

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Tommy, I thought that, too. But it didn't get a laugh in my crowd
