And possibly her dry cleaner, with the bloody ear and all.
Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains
Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.
Joss Whedon's science-fiction adventure is "more engaging than any of George Lucas's recent screen entertainments," says the front page of theNY Times website.
Back with a spoiler report as soon as I go read it.
ETA: Only the vaguest of spoilers, if that.
I may have mentioned once or twice (or possibly ten times) today (and maybe a couple of times earlier in the week) that I was going to see Serenity tomorrow.
So as I'm leaving work today, a co-worker cheerily calls out... "Happy Serenity Day tomorrow!" It's so nice that they humor me in my geeky exuberance.
Cool! Serenity trailer during Alias tonight. It almost seems like U is going super-overboard on the advertising so no craxy fans can come back and say "it's all your fault for not doing x, y and z" (ala Fox).
Not that there will be cause to blame, understand.
The optimist in me hopes that Serenity will sell out this weekend, and the pessimist in me feared that I might not get in to see it, so yesterday I went to buy my ticket in advance. I walked up to the counter and said to the teenybopper, "I'd like a ticket for Friday, please... Serenity, seven o'clock showing."
She popped her gum, blinked, and tapped at her ticket machine. Then she said, "Sorry, we're not showing any movie called Friday."
It took her three tries to figure out what I was asking for.
Oy.
I was mentioning the movie to my coworker when we were discussing weekend plans, and he recognized it from the commercials! He said it sounded like a lot of fun, and mentioned the the Mal/Wash Yes! No! Yes! No! bit from the ads.
"Sorry, we're not showing any movie called Friday."
dies from the laughing
Oh, dear. I kind of want to tag Confused Teenage Theater Employee. Is that wrong? It's just so funny. Poor dear.
Watching the premiere of Night Stalker, which is not impressive so far, but one of the main characters - a guy - is named "Jayne".
Now where did I hear of a guy named Jayne?...
Last weekend a couple of my friends who've only seen the occaisional episode of Firefly and enjoyed it, but never really got hooked quoted Mal and Jayne's "Do you want to run this ship?" "Yes!" "Well...you can't!" bit at each other out of the blue, which made me happy.
Tuesday I got tickets for the 7:15 show tomorrow for me and two friends. My friend EJ is so excited about the movie, she's insisting we get there around 6 so we can get in the theater as soon as possible to get good seats.
She called either today or yesterday to try and get another ticket for someone else, but told it was sold out! I'm not sure if it's for the whole day or just that showing, but she's already a talking about buying an ticket for Saturday or Sunday, or maybe next week when we get to there. Or maybe tickets Saturday or Sunday AND next weekend.
