I wanna die in bed surrounded by fat grandchildren, but guess that's off the menu.

Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains

Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yay! I saw an ad, too!

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I knew Wash's full name last year, so I assumed everyone else did. Zoe, though - I think that page got her last name wrong. I remember coming across it somewhere, and it wasn't anything I'd heard before.

Yay for well-placed ads!

"There are two sorts of people in the world: those who believe Joss Whedon is a genius and those who are wrong." - Connie Ogle, Miami Herald

There's a really good interview with Joss Whedon in the new issue (Sept/Oct double issue with Evangeline Lilly on the cover) of CFQ (Cinefantastique) magazine. Obviously, it's tied to the release of Serenity, but there's also a lot about storytelling in general. There's also a Firefly episode guide with comments from Joss and Tim Minear.

(I also give thumbs up to the Lost content with thoughts from Damon Lindelof and David Fury.)

The only downside is that it's on the high end at $12.99.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

FOX just ran a Serenity preview during the premiere of the Simpsons.

For what that's worth.

Sometimes evil drives a minivan.

Yee-Haw!

I just saw a Serenity ad (funnily on FOX) during The Simpsons' season premier. The first I've seen on TV!

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Whenever I see the word spelled without the e at the end, I think of Krushchev.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Wired article on Serenity, Browncoats, etc: [link]

Who are more dedicated than Trekkies? Browncoats. That's the nickname for fans of Firefly, the Wild West-inflected sci-fi melodrama that aired on Fox in 2002. When the show was canceled after 11 episodes, the Browncoats began building Web sites, emailing petitions, even holding charity events. Firefly creator Joss Whedon - better known for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel - knows how devoted viewers can be and has special appreciation for the Browncoats. "They understand defeat, and it has made them fight harder," Whedon says. They didn't win over Fox, but they got a consolation prize: Universal Pictures turned Firefly into a movie, Serenity, which opens September 30. Here's how the Browncoats rode in like the cavalry.

There is also a picture. It looks like a paining that was to be used to develop effects, etc. I don't recognize it all all.
