Can't even shout, Can't even cry. The Gentlemen are coming by. Looking in windows, knocking on doors. They need to take seven, and they might take yours. Can't call to mom, can't say a word. You're gonna die screaming but you won't be heard.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

Ditto, mostly. I don't know Edinburgh well (ie at all) so finding each other will be fun.

All this time, I thought Hunter was a bitch. Turns out she was just hungry.

If you see only one scene of Deadwood, see the scene where Woo and Swearingen convey quite a bit of information through hand gestures and the word "cocksucker". Information about other people and what's going on in the camp. It's hilarious, and kind of amazing.

That's bit's on the soundtrack album, and even in audio only it's hilarious. Oddly, it reminded me of Abbott and Costello's "Who's on First?" bit. But with less confusion and more use of "cocksucker."

What is even happening?

But I want me and Kristen on a guestlist. And then the storm of bitter harpidom on my heart will be quiet once more.

I don't understand how you're not. I'm not asking for the story, I'm just expressing my disbelief at the wrongness of it.

Marketing machine likes to use fandom to its advantage but doesn't bother paying attention to the history of it?

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Replace "fandom" with "whoever it can," and you've nailed it.

Definitely.

Also, in the Serenity book thing, Joss says Universal was on board before the DVD sales for Firefly was available. I'm confused as to how many version of the events I've seen now. He doesn't mention the millions of fans, though.

Sounds to me (as if we ever really doubted) that Allyson is 100% spot-on with her assessment. Serenity is a bone (a delectable one, I think) that Universal threw Joss.

Well, not for nothing, it seems like Joss, or someone who works for him, ought to have thought of Kristen and Allyson (and you for that matter, but you're not in L.A.).

I don't agree. I think Universal wanted to work with Joss partly because he has a devoted fanbase. That makes him a better bet financially, and studios are all about the cha-ching. The most talented filmaker in the world won't get hired if his films don't sell tickets and crap filmmakers (like the tools who turn out the Adam Sandler films) get paid big bucks because they have a "following." So I agree with Allyson that the fans were not the reason the movie got made, but they WERE a factor in why they wanted to be in business with Joss in the first place.

Don't cry for me, Topic!Cindy. The truth is...

Well, the truth is that it's not a big deal. It's mostly a source of amusement to me at this point.

Also, I should say that there are people, who used to work for J. Weewee, that do think of us. (And think rather highly of us, no less.) So no worries.

ETA: Oooooh. Look. I'm a 4400. Do I get special powers?
