It's called a blaster, Will, a word that tends to discourage experimentation. Now, if it were called the Orgasmater, I'd be the first to try your basic button press approach.

Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains

Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

All this time, I thought Hunter was a bitch. Turns out she was just hungry.

Did anyone here see Serenity stuff at ComicCon? I hear it went well, but not from anyone who knew enough Jossy stuff to give me details.

Forgive me if I'm repeating, but there was a panel--with everybody but that guy in Spamalot. Just good natured palaver. The closest thing to hard news was that the movie is finished. Funniest bit: Nathan gave us the secret to soap opera acting--a good three part reaction shot. When another character tells yours something, and the camera is on you, just think: did I leave the stove on?; yes, I did; no--I didn't. Facial expressions that work every time.

Joss was seen shopping for Harry Potter.

And there was a screening of said finished film at a downtown multiplex. Shiny.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

New Serenity trailer;

If it goes down, blame me, as I'm hosting it.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Nathan gave us the secret to soap opera acting--a good three part reaction shot. When another character tells yours something, and the camera is on you, just think: did I leave the stove on?; yes, I did; no--I didn't.

This sounds like the dignified version of fart-smelling acting.

Art Crawl!!!

Why you should watch Firefly.

Visilurking

That was hilarious. Especially this:

Cannily realizing that viewers enjoy the thrill of the chase, Fox skipped the pilot, ran the second episode first, mixed up the rest, and waged a heroic battle to keep interest high by endlessly airing commercials about "Oliver Beene." Had "24" been handled the same way it would never have made it to "12."

and this:

And remember, every time you support a canceled Fox show, somewhere a network executive loses his wings.

Thanks for posting that, sumi.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

If it goes down, blame me, as I'm hosting it.

Go you! I really liked it. Damn, I want to see it. It looks all action-packed and wisecracky.

Sure I went over to the Dark Side, but just to pick up a few things.

Jayne's cheerful violence

This is a good description of Jayne.

Great article. I love reading all the good press about Firefly and Serenity and mocking FOX at the same time.

FOX is definately going to the special hell.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Kevin, thanks! I still haven't managed to catch the, or even a, Serenity trailer at the theatre, which saddens me deeply. This managed to lift the gloom, by a little. Okay, by a lot.

And from the article at Sumi's link:

Thanks to massive DVD sales and -- well, let's go with "devoted," because "dangerously obsessive" sounds so negative -- fan interest, Whedon and all the original actors will gleefully return to fly in the big damn movie "Serenity," which is scheduled to be released Sept. 30. This does not generally happen with canceled TV shows

and this:

And remember, every time you support a canceled Fox show, somewhere a network executive loses his wings.

The writer could have been channeling that Whedon guy.

Yeah, I enjoyed the way he wrote (or, I guess Chris could be a she, though I tend to go with he for that name first. Which is weird, because I know more famale Chrises. Anyway.) in addition to what he said. Nice article.

Loved the new trailer. Thanks, Kevin.
