GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Not to interrupt all the scientology discussion, but Joss posted on the Serenity boards (not sure if this is more Movies or Firefly, so I'm going to be one of those dirty cross-posters) [link]

Here's an odd little story:

Summer did read for Kitty in X3. I know because she called me and mentioned she was going to and did I know anything about the character (there were no 'sides' to study -- they had to get them when they came in). So the girl I turned into sort of a superhero in my movie was going to read for the character that most influenced ALL my girl-heroes, Kitty Pryde. Karmically funky. Anyhoo, she called me after and said it was very emotional and kind of like when she read for FIREFLY, she just got into a very intense groove. She started telling me about the scene she read and that's when I realized WHY it was kind of like she read for FIREFLY. 'Cause (as you may know) it was a scene I wrote for Astonishing X-Men issue #5. I assume they just didn't have sides ready and used that but this was like a karmic moebius strip, it was just too folded in on itself. In this time of odd, I turned to beer. (No I didn't. Stay in school.)

I don't know what the X-peeps are looking for -- or even if that other girl has really dropped out -- but for my money, Summer would make a wonderful Kitty. (And I don't say that lightly.) As long as it doesn't interfere with SERENITY II: RICARDO MONTALBAN'S STILL PISSED -- or, much more importantly, SERENITY III: SO VERY NUDE.

I have shared my tail. (Lord, that's what I actually typed! I mean "tale"! What will people think of me?) No tail sharing. Oh so lame.

now off to make blinis!

So Summer possibly as Kitty in X3. I'm not sure what I think about that yet.

That's definitely weird.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

So Summer possibly as Kitty in X3. I'm not sure what I think about that yet.

I had seen Maggie Grace's name tossed around (Shannon on Lost).

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

She was being considered, and then she wasn't.

Cheater! You just copied and pasted you reply from one thread to the other!

(What do you mean I just did the same thing? I'll have you know I typed each of those posts by hand, through 6 feet of snow, uphill, both ways. The reason they look identical is because I take pride in my work. You young whipper-snappers and your mouse clicks and your CTRL+V. Back in my day...)

Hey! I totally typed them both out by hand!

I may have to seize the cat.

I wish he'd said Jewel Staite had read for it.

I love Summer, but Jewel would be a better Kitty. Also, Astonishing!Kitty looks hella-Jewel.

Also, also, every time Joss says something about Kitty being the prototype for his girl heroes, it bristles me a bit. He called her the proto-Buffy once, and I wanted to yell at him. Because Kitty Pryde is so obviously proto-Willow, though I could see her argued as proto-River. But proto-Buffy? I don't see it.

In any case, I believe in Summer Glau, and I trust Joss enough that if he says she'd be a good Kitty, she would, but I'd rather see Jewel do it, myself. I guess she might be too old (but not if Maggie Grace isn't, and it of course depends entirely on what time in her life she's supposed to be).

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Katie Stuart is Kitty Pryde.

Now this I could totally get behind. I won't be upset if Summer gets it, but I don't get a "Yes, that's brilliant" feeling about it. Though, honestly, I'd imagine the movie is going to feature classic, teenage Kitty which doesn't match up so well with Jewel in my mind.

Yes. I can't think of anyone for Teenage Kitty. (except tralf, and I don't think she's got an agent or anything)

ita, Katie was Kitty in X2, and Sumela Kay played her in X-Men. I have to say, we didn't see either of them long enough to convince me she was "the one."

Summer would be a fine Kitty Pryde. But a different one. I hope if they've got Colossus in it that they bring back the guy from X2. He was perfect.

Anyway. Firefly. Good show. Love it.

How do I get my sister to watch it? I'm thinking of tying her down and holding her eyes open a la Clockwork Orange. But not.
