Sweet lumpy minion, you're the only one that understands. Probably 'cause I haven't sucked the brain out of you yet.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Besides, I doubt Han even knows who his parents are.

Well, we now know that Yoda and Chewbacca were close....

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The feudalism in space stuff (and oh, how I love that phrase) feels much more sword-and-sorcery romantic quest, and I think that's what pings people as "not SF" about it. (It's also about the only damn thing in the new trilogy, but I could just be bitter -- still -- about the grievous lack of Solo.)

I think the feudal elements owe more to Lucas' love of Samurai films. Hence the light saber fighting style and the rips from Kurowasawa's The Hidden Fortress.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Tommy, I was growling at that during 3. But did Han even know about Yoda?

If I ever go back and watch 4-6, I'm going to be coming up with a list of things we're being asked to , in a rather farcical way, believe, with people not noticing, or commenting on, cross-connections. Which, I suppose, is easier with Chewie and R2, as we don't actually know everything they're saying.

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

Do we seriously have to still white font this?

Obi-Wan knew R2D2, fairly well. Well enough for R2 to take orders from him. And yet, in E4, he says, "I don't remember owning any droid . . . ." C'mon, folks.

No whitefonting the original trilogy, I say.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Do we seriously have to still white font this?

If you're not in the Movie thread? Yeah. And even in the Movie thread, I think the white-font rule is two weeks.

Edit: The newest movie, I mean.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

But it's only been 28 years. Someone somewhere might not have seen it.

I scorn them.

"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

I said it before I knew the nature of Chewbacca's role in Ep. III, and I can say it for certain now that I've seen it: 1. Aboslutely unnecessary, as it does nothing for the story and 2. detracts from the legitimacy of the story by pandering to the fans, which is also very, very unnecessary. Makes it look like Lucas didn't have enough faith in his own story and had to stick Chewie in to make everyone happy.

Well, technically he didn't own the droid....

OK, that's a reach.

In TESB I now expect Vader to say, "Hey, threepio, how's it goin'?"
