Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains

Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

There were a few things I had missed in my viewings (the crew attacking each other?)

I'm not sure if that's accurate. The guy that Jayne clotheslines does look vaguely like Wash, but is definitely not Alan Tudyk. Not sure if it is Wash's stunt double, and is SUPPOSED to be Wash, but we'll have to wait on that.

Jeff, if you feel like adding EVEN MORE detail to your awesome recap, here's a few:

In that first shot of Simon, wearing the Coat of Big Shiny Shoulder Pads, you can see that he's carrying that sceptre/dagger explodey doodad with the globe and eagle. You can also see in the later shot of the explodey doodad doing it's business that it is clearly Simon (in the same coat) activating it. Can't positively confirm that it's River in the chair in front of him, but there's the right color and length of hair and other cues.

Closeup of the two people driving the vehicle - it's Zoe driving and River in the passenger seat. You can also confirm that in the longer shot with Mal and Jayne firing.

The shot of Kaylee and Simon running from a fire is in the Serenity engine room. You see Kaylee's hammock in the background, and the dark blob in the right foreground is in the right place to be the Serenity engine.

And right after the "Let's be bad guys", the figure doing the diving roll punch is River.

I thought the Krumholtz character says "You don't even know what it is you're carrying."

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

snagged off whedonesque, a post from joss at the serenity site:

The Uni brass just gave me word that certain theater managers who couldn't provide tickets were... how can I put this delicately... THREATENED. Seriously. Which is both touching and, hey, totally uncool. Yes, we need to show our excitement about the film to make the world stand up and listen, but we must use the peaceful, time-honored ways: writing letters and e-mails, working booths and throwing parties, and lining up for months in front of theaters that aren't showing the movie.

Um. The movie will be coming out in wide release in a few months, yes?

Asshats.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

If you're near Austin and want tix to the screening, someone has a pair on ebay. For $187!!

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

That is just taking rabid in the wrong direction.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

lining up for months in front of theaters that aren't showing the movie.

I think this is just hilarious every time I think of it.

You could buy many tickets for friends at the actual opening for this price. Or, perhaps bribe your way into the premiere (a worthwhile use for the money, IMnotsoHO). Or, if you live closer to LA than me, pop down to cheer outside the premiere, and attend the party that will probably be quite lovely even if Allyson doesn't organize it, and attend the opening with buffistas.

I may have to seize the cat.

People are silly, and kind of embarrassing.

If I only had a brain...

Some people have more money than common sense.

I am shocked, shocked, I tell you.

All this time, I thought Hunter was a bitch. Turns out she was just hungry.

Pardon the dumb question, but when are we gonna get to see the trailer in movie theatres?

I may have to seize the cat.

Eeee! I want to play in that game. I already emailed my gaming buddies and told them I'm running a campaign.

I'll have to learn a new rule system because it's not d20 or the Eden one either. But that's okay, I can do that.
