Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

Strawberry disappointment.

Hope no one smuggles a camera into one of the screenings and torrents Serenity.

My will is weak and I don't want that sort of temptation.

Any 'istas going to the Atlanta screening besides me?

Yep. I'll be there with my son. Did you get your tickets at the box office?

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Hmm. The Boston Phoenix had a small ad for SERENITY, though it didn't have that word on it, except in Chinese (my guess that the characters in the two circles spell "serenity"). It just had "Can't stop the signal" and "Thursday, May 5, 10 pm" and "To purchase tickets, log on to [link] Of course, you go there and it says all the shows are sold out. Not sure what the point was for the ad, but maybe they didn't realize it would sell out quite that quickly. Nice to see the ad, though.

t delurks like a delurking thing

I work for a relatively large theater chain (Cinemark), where I do fun things like put movies together. I'm pretty sure that if you're going to a Cinemark this weekend to see HHG, you're not going to find the trailer. I'm 90% sure that trailers are consistent across the company, and there's no sign of it.

Of course, there's no guarantee that theaters in bigger cities, like NY or LA, won't have it despite my nay-saying.

In related news, my friend's comment upon watching the trailer? "That is SO the most phallic ship I have ever seen."

Oh, I think The Lexx probably outdoes Serenity in that department.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Oh, I think The Lexx probably outdoes Serenity in that department.

Wow, I think that one even outdoes the ship in Flesh Gordon.

I'm pretty sure the Lexx is the product of too much pot.

Well, in the actual show the shaftfusilage is thinner, so it ends up looking more like a dragonfly than the schematic. But they made sure to re-use a shot of it rotating in every episode that kind of brought the phallic nature home.
