Kiba! Good to see you around these parts.
Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains
Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.
I want to send another assload of goodies to Allyson and Kiba and everyone who pushed and pushed and kept FF visible and played any part at all in making Serenity possible.
If just once, Joss Whedon would remember who I am, that'd be enough.
Signed,
Tired, bitter, and resigned
Back when I was slinging popcorn and splicing reels of film together to put myself through grad school, unless there was an exclusive promotional deal tying a coming soon to an already showing, we were allowed to put any trailer in front of any movie regardless of studio, distributor, or anything else. Management liked to put sci fi on sci fi, though.

Ooh. Hot scifi-on-scifi action....
Allyson, you don't strike me as the huggy type, but that was so sad I just have to:
{{Allyson}}
It's hard for me to imagine that Joss doesn't know who you are and appreciate you, but if that is the case, it is his loss.

GenYay!
You know it seems a lot of people seem to base whether or not they want to see the movie based on Joss. You have those people who seem to think he can do no wrong and follow blindly while others seen to think he's wildly overated.
There are plenty of other reasons to see Serenity.
If you're a fan of the show, you'll want to learn more about unanswered questions surrounding Book and River or you just may simply want to see these characters do what they do.
You'll want to support Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin who post on Firefly message boards and the rest of the cast for being generous to Firefly "flans" whether online or at cons. You'll want to support Chris Buchanan for making sure there were even boards left to post at.
You might just appreciate good science fiction in a unique universe that's more than just another crew on another ship.
Or you may want to flip off the suits who cancelled the show to prove maybe their viewing models should be changed. You can teach them that loyalty is to be earned and nurtured and if you're patient that loyalty will be mighty. I can think of no better way to thumb your nose at FOX than to buy a ticket to Serenity.
Beej, due to timing (score isn't recorded until film is all cut, and trailers often come out before that time), they almost never use music from the actual film in trailers. They actually use music from OTHER movies on a regular basis. Freaky, but there you go.
A friend of mine actually had his music used in one of the trailers for one of the Matrix movies - Reloaded, I believe it was.
Love. Nary a quibble.
And I was right - even if I'd never heard of FF, this trailer would have intrigued me mightily. And that makes me happy.
With all due respect, Anthony, you know not my head.
I've done enough supporting for 20 sequels and then some. So really? You know.
I love Buchanan a whole lot, he's a good man. Hoping Bad Science is a massively successful venture. He doesn't need my ten bucks for Serenity. Or my efforts, now that I think of it. I'm sort of done doing that stuff for free. If they need my help I'm available on nights and weekends at a very reasonable rate. Doesn't sound like I'm needed though.
Also, I'm stoked that the fans are so happy and are seeing the fruits of their huge campaign to support the show.
