Anyone planning on the trek down to San Diego?
Dunno yet.
Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

I know what the concepts are, what the movie is about, how it looks, and it's no more interesting to me than say, Ring Two. Which is to say, I think it'll be entertaining for what it is, but my life could go by without seeing it, and I may catch it on TNT some rainy Sunday afternoon in between folding laundry and dusting. I don't see this as much of a diss, really.
I completely respect your opinion but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't intriged that a fan of the series has little to no interest in the movie continuation. Have you really written off seeing it in theaters completely? How about if the Buffistas took up a paypal collection to pay for your ticket plus refreshments? Or, what if Tim Minear himself offered to take you as his date to the premiere?
Tim's later work on Wonderfalls mitigated—or perhaps co-opted—a lot of my sadness and rage over Firefly's cancellation. I grew to love Firefly as the show went on, but Wonderfalls had me from the opening teaser, just like Buffy did. If Firefly getting picked up would have meant that I never got to see "Lovesick Ass" or "Cocktail Bunny," then I'd have chosen for things to fall out as they did.
Wow, Matt.
That is amazing. I simply can't see it the same way. As much as I liked Wonderfalls (yes, simply liked) it can in no way compete with the brilliance that was Firefly.
Different strokes thing, I guess. Mind you, the only shows on TV that I've ever loved as much as Wonderfalls are the first 3 seasons of Buffy and stretches out of Angel Seasons 1 and 2. Anything else I'd have burned the masters of to get the back 9 of Firefly.
I definitely was more in love with Firefly than Wonderfalls myself. It simply had more meat on it, plus I loved almost all the characters.
Different Strokes, indeed!
I love the later seasons of Buffy and Angel. The darker something gets, the more I like it. That is why I am salivating over The Inside.
And maybe Serenity isn't for you. I'm just saying.
How about if the Buffistas took up a paypal collection to pay for your ticket plus refreshments?
I can afford a movie ticket and buttered popcorn. It's not an issue.
Or, what if Tim Minear himself offered to take you as his date to the premiere?
I'm sure Tim's dancecard is full. But it's a funny sentence.
Allyson, you funny.
Hell, in a perfect world, we'd get long runs for Firefly, Wonderfalls and The Inside each with Tim Minear executive producing.
