Lindsey: Why--why did you... Lorne: One last job. You're not part of the solution, Lindsey. You never will be. Lindsey: You kill me? A flunky?! I'm not just...Angel...kills me. You...Angel... Lorne: Good night, folks.

'Not Fade Away'

Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains

Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

God, that formatting killed me.

Also, the Fireflyed out commente seemed to be a response to the Firefly comic. But I dunno.

I gotta agree with PC. It's the Grand Prix she's dissing.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

If I may make so bold, he's mentioning what I've also noticed, which is that Allyson may've been more subtextually than actually "dissing" Firefly (although being "Fireflyed out" may not be a literal slam, to some of us it does not advertise the true love and obsession that many of us share).

This sentence, it irks. I've walked the walk in terms of love for Firefly. In fact, I ran the marathon. Which may explain my tiredness.

I haven't been tiptoeing around it, but to be clear, I just don't think the show translates to the big screen. I think if you're not a fan going into it, you'll not so much be in love coming out of it.

I do think the film will serve fans well, in that you'll get to see these characters one more time, and get some answers about some mysteries the show wasn't able to cover because it got shot down so soon.

Oddly, I'm seeing the door closed/window opened of it. If Firefly was still going, I wouldn't be hugging scripts for The Inside so tightly, and I'm in love with The Inside. Tim got to do his own thing, and that's a good thing.

With Firefly, I didn't love or respect the show until Out of Gas, but this one had me at hello, before I ever saw a script when he was yammering on about it with excitement (Bob likes carrots), and I thought, "hm. I wonder what Tim will wear to the Emmys. I'm gonna throw an Emmy party so we can all squeal at the teevee when they call his name."

And yet, I expect many Buffistas will hate it as much as I love it. And I'll be sad, because, like when Jessica wasn't so keen on Firefly, I missed having her voice in the conversation.

It doesn't mean they can't discuss why they're unhappy with it, in fact, I'd love to know more and talk about it.

Wow ita. All laid out like that, I see I say a lot of inane shit.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Does this mean there will be no Serenity party?

(speaking of inane shit)

I'm hoping I post at too high a volume for anyone to do the same for me. Having said that, I think there'd be a distinct...uh...compromise in my quality.

I want there to be a Serenity party! Not that I'm horribly biased, or anything, or looking to wear another headset.

It's odd, this is sort of why I wanted to post as paperdol in here, just because of that reaction.

The thing about the parties I do is that they're a celebration of the fandom, and the show is the reason for the fandom. The fandom wants to honor the thing that brought them together, but I throw parties to honor the people who are the fandom.

The Firefly fandom makes me insanely proud. They really have hung in there, and have done a lot of work and spent a lot of their hard earned money and free time to keep the fandom and the story that is Firefly alive.

So of course I'm all about helping put together a party for them. I adore them and want them to have something for the scrapbook.

But if someone else wants to pick up the ball and run with it, more power to them.

Seriously. I have no flag planted in the ground and I am not the fandom party queen. I'll be there for them if they prefer me to take the reigns, and root for them if someone else wants to do it.

Yes you are. Shut up. Besides, Sail says I need to wear a headset.

I read the Firefly OB all the time and it seems Rosie is really passionate about doing a party, and I'd not stomp on her to take it, she's a sweetpea and seems to be in love with the idea.

Kristen and I got a lot of shit thrown in our direction for "abandoning the fandom" and so if my name on something causes a single fan to think twice about coming to Hollywood to party it up, I'll of course step back.

Not all about me.
