Jilli, that is excellent news!!!
I'm not clicking the china links. I love china, but DH is literally a bull in a china shop, so it's not worth buying it. I have to stick to my sturdy stuff. Although a nice tea set would be something to aspire to.
I took the boy to Target for pictures. They did SUCH a better job than the last two places we went (Wal-Mart and Olan Mills). I can't wait to pick them up!
I've stopped waffling. The weather is still fine here, so I'm leaving for Indiana when DH gets home. I'll get to see my mom and sisters and DH will keep Owen at home. My first overnight away from him. I'm going to try not to call them every five minutes.
Don't you wish you were my roommate?A lot of the time actually, vw.
I think so, at least in my mind.I am still such the SJnTeaCupBoy 4EVAHHHHH!!!!!!11!! shipper.

Wonderful news, Jilli. So happy that there is positive news.
My first overnight away from him. I'm going to try not to call them every five minutes. He'll be fine Cash, but I think the inclination to call and check is very very normal.
I have no more uncles now. They just left. Which is sad but we had a great time together and I might see them again on Wednesday as they fly out of San Diego on Thursday. And before they left, they helped me put together my new dining chairs. I wore my tiara. The breakfast nook looks downright queer-eyed fabulous. I am happy. I should go take a picture.

Oh, he'll be SUPER FINE. DH is very good with him. I'm just being a nervous nelly. I REALLY need the time away though. Like, really.
Oh Cash, they'll both be fine. And you'll benefit from the time away. But yeah, I hear you on the separation anxiety.
The first time I spent the night away from StE was when I went to the hospital to have StY. Oy. I couldn't enjoy the new baby I was so anxious to get home to "my" baby. Mixed emotions, you betcha. And as for "young brides," I married at 20. DH was army, on the track to officer, and we moved to NJ, DC, and Germany in our first year together. I'd lived away from home for two semesters--at a school in my hometown.
We bought our china in Germany from a door-to-door salesman working for the English firm who made the china. In his demonstration he flipped a dinner plate across the floor like a frisbee. He went and got it, brought it back and threw it back across the floor so it landed on its rim, rolled, and spun to a halt right side up. Sold!

That's just too cool. Do you do this yourself?
Jilli, I am glad your friend is improving so. How is his wife doing? Has she gotten any rest?
Cashmere, it's hard, that overnight away from home. Call when you get there. Call in the morning. And then, sit there, and realize nobody is whining at you, while you're having breakfast. Then feel guilty. Then enjoy it and have your time with your family. Then race home, and not let let go of him for about a half hour after you get in the door. :) It's all sort of nice, because we seldom get the chance to miss them.
I love seeing everyone's china. Some of these links are so tempting. I am with everyone who says you can't have enough space for china. My mother has scads of tea cups. Some are really mine (they're from my paternal grandmother), but most are from her mother and grandmother. I think she might have a tea cup from brenda's pattern.
This is my china.
This is our everyday set of dishes.

She's gotten some rest, mostly because of the three of our friends who are taking shifts being with her *made* her lie down, shut her eyes, and concentrate on her breathing.

This is good. I've been worried about her pushing herself too hard and winding up ill, especially given the amount of time she has to spend at the hospital.
No, -t, though I've been tempted. The first piece that broke was the sugar bowl lid (my sugar bowl and creamer are shaped exactly like Cindy's pattern! Just with the seafoam green lace rather than the roses. Royal Albert is also a Doulton subsidiary), which my helpful 2-year-old tried to pick up by the itty-bitty knob on top. It slipped through his little fingers and crashed on the terrazzo kitchen floor. Puir wee mite, he was devastated. I had to comfort him. He has always loved pretty dishes. When he was eight he had a meltdown in the store because DH and I didn't pick his choice for casual dishes. And when he moved out on his own he bought black matte angular moderne pieces for himself. But anyway. Shortly after we lost the sugar bowl lid, one of the coffee cups cracked when we poured coffee in. Turns out there was a tiny, unnoticed void in the side of the cup. We contacted the company, they replaced the pieces with no charge. The rest of the set has seen moderate wear, and is still holding up quite well. There's been no other breakage.
