Details:
Emily and I arrived and C&L's house at a little after 6pm. We brought in ALL our stuff (and it was a lot), started getting some stuff set up, then hang out for a bit. C & Emily were going to buy alcohol, but it turned out that C&L had leftover beer and stuff from other parties, so a liquor run wasn't necessary.
We got things set up, and shortly after 8pm Victor and Lea and Mike arrived. We decided shortly after that that Emily really wanted gin and tonics, so I ran to the grocery store to buy tonic water and limes. DX/Ed came just as I was leaving. I got back to the house right after Tom and Nora had stolen my parking place. But, it was alright; there was still room in the driveway, so all was good. Eventually, Nutty joined us as well. She was a little later, 'cause she had been sucked in by the Patriot's game. Silly girl, getting into all these sports this year.
I don't think we left the kitchen all night. We just hung out and chatted, ate and drank in C&L's large kitchen (boy, it makes me SO jealous to have that much space!). About 9:30 Emily disappeared for a moment, so Nora and I decided that it was cake time. We brought it in from outside, and I started placing the 30 candles on it while Nora poured prosecco or sparkling juice for everyone. We sang "Happy Birthday." Nora gave a quick toast. Then Emily got to open her big present.
Now, she knew it was coming, but she had no idea what it was. Earlier during the day she told me she knew what it was. I gave her a weird look, 'cause I thought she'd really figured it out. Turns out all she could remember mentioning that she wanted was a salad spinner. So, she was pretty sure she was getting a gold-plated Chinese salad spinner (I had exclaimed one morning after receiving an e-mail from Apple that her present was coming from China). I breathed a sigh of relief that she didn't really know and couldn't wait to give her the gift.
She opened the iPod. She loved it (as you could probably tell by the pictures). We ate cake and chatted more.
Eventually, people started to leave. I think it was around midnight that everyone but Mike had left. The five of us (C&L, Mike, Emily and me) decided to play a game of Munchkin. I was drunk and exhausted and helped C win. It was that or let Emily and C win at the same time. I don't know why I didn't let that happen. I blame the drunkness and tiredness.
Mike's wife called looking for him, so he finished the game then went home. L made up the futon for Em and me, and we crashed.
I was up most of the night puking. That was fun and exciting. Then we got up in the morning, packed up the car, picked up Toto and came home to be greated by a police officer. Apparently the other apartment in our building was broken into this morning. Nice. It's been an experience. Fortunately, our apartment was left alone, but it's still been a bit of an ordeal.
Thus ends the party tale.

Hec, that's enough fever to feel really, really miserable. Get better. I usually do the whole fever-breaking routine of taking a hot bath, making a stiff hot toddy and getting in bed with a lot of covers. It may not help, but it distracts you from the symptoms.
It sounds like a great party, vw, although I'm sorry about the aftermath. I really like your hair, and Emily looks very happy with her iPod. Of course, I think I'd look really happy with an iPod too.
An old friend who's moved to Tucson was in town and we went to our favorite Chinese restaurant to eat our favorite food, Fried Baby Anchovies with Peanuts and Hot Peppers. He's usually with his boyfriend, who's a great guy, but not the sort of person who eats Fried Baby Anchovies with Peanuts and Hot Peppers. As far as I know, only my friend and I are. His boyfriend didn't come this time, so we got to indulge ourselves. They inexplicably gave us free dumplings, perhaps for ordering Fried Baby Anchovies. We first ordered them after reading a review in which the reviewer ordered them and the waiter said, "You no like. Little fishies, very hot." So we usually call them "little fishies, very hot."
I just learned how to play Literati so's I can be one of the cool kids!
Anyone want to play??
I haven't played before, Lilty, but I'll give it a try.
Ok! How do we figure out where to meet?
ETA: I always see people in Semantics. I found that and I will go start a table.
