HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Cat update-- he doesn't have FIV and the vet doesn't know what's going on, but he's much more active and he's showing an interest in food even if he's not eating much. Mom's only going to take him back to the vet if he gets dehydrated again.

Billy Idol is on my TV. This is a good New Years starter.

Tom's still under the weather, but cooked a lovely herb roasted chicken parts dinner with mashed sweet potato with chipolte. Then I toddled off to make an appearance at a local party of some old friends and stayed there till about 10:30, Tom got me, we got home, put on our pajamas, watched South Park, till the ball in Times Square dropped, and now we are going to bed.

I predict I will be hungover tomorrow, not because I've had too much to drink, but because I drank the following: 2.5 beers, 2 vodka tonics, 2 glasses champagne, and 1 shot of aquavite.

Erika, that essay of yours... just, damn. Wonderful stuff.

And I'm amongst the homebodies for NYE. I went out for dinner and conversation with two good friends I almost never see earlier, though, and had my drinking fun then. We went to a microbrewery/restaurant. They had a sampler option on the beer menu. Usually, this means three or four small glasses. This place, however, is godlike. When they say sampler, they mean one four-ounce glass of everything on tap that night. I had eight nummy ales, lagers and stouts along with a fantastic pizza, huge jalapeno poppers, and tres leches chocolate cake.

Prosecco. I approve.
