of the work 10000 hours and get paid for 40. not that it was the money, but more of some of the other things that had to happen. - encourageing 16 yr olds to drive in a snow storm to work. encourageing people to come in when the were sick.
This is so exactly it, beth. I even get paid halftime on top of salary for overtime, but it's the soullessness of it all. It's started to snow now, and I know that tonight I'll have girls calling me asking if they have to come to work, and I'll have to tell them to try. I've been told that I should write people up if they are sick w/out a freaking doctors note and they don't cover their shift. (I didn't once, and got in trouble for it.) Basically, to become really good at my job, I'd have to become someone I don't want to be.
I'll still apply. I've got a spiffy new resume now, and I've written something to use as a sample, which I can edit tommorrow night. Wouldn't hurt.
Got and backflung with one, vw, thank you.
I'm going to have to go get horizontal for a bit. Hope everyone has a peach of a day.
Definitely feel better, Deena. Mwah!
Nora, if you're around, I just sent you a semi-urgent e-mail to rainoftoads.
and then Jon B. showed up, followed by JZ and Hec, and I introduced all 3 of them to my best friend as "those internet people."
JZ's not pregnant either. But I'm glad we were hanging around in the funhouse which is your brain.
Not me, Teppy!
Lilty, definitely apply. The new job is more in line with what you want to do long-term, right? So even if you were content where you were, you'd be better off in the new place.
And welcome, Bells!
Not me, I'm happy to say.
Last week you would've scared the crap out of me, though
I am not pregnant, yay! So if it was me, you can spill!
I'm so self-centered.
Lilty, glad that the Capt. is doing well. I have such fond feelings for him. He's like the Peanuts Christmas tree or something. but more of a drama queen.
Also, you don't have to tell your manager you are interviewing, unless she is actually your friend. You can get yourself into lots of trouble that way, i.e., they replace you when you haven't even gotten a job yet. I'm just saying, it seems like the culture there is very CYA, and there's no reason to trust the management. Don't lie or be misleading, but I advise holding your cards as close to your chest as possible.
I don't like these people on your behalf, and I'm suspicious!
Last week you would've scared the crap out of me, though
Oooh. Did somebody get lucky for the holidays?
Hee. Long-ago ex came to town. Things ensued.
