It's good to have cargo. Makes us a target for every other scavenger out there, though, but sometimes that's fun too.

"Naaaaah. He wouldn't ride the subway, man."

Heh. I love that. What's a spinach movie, Kat?

What was the Samuel L. Jackson quote that prompted Mekhi Pfeiffer to say he wouldn't act with former crackheads?

Spinach movies (and books) are those that are Good For You. You may actually enjoy them too, but generally speakign they ride on their Good For Youness.

On the committee on which I serve, when we vote on books to give awards to, whenever there is a book that is supposed to have a Big Message and Be Good For You (a la Thank You, Mr. Falker by Patricia Polacco), I call it a Spinach Book.

It's part of my voting criteria (no talking barnyad animals, no mice and only a handful of spinach books).

That's a good story. I especially like how Duck acts as a neutral party performing waddle diplomacy.

I liked Click Clack Moo and its sequel. I also like Duck for President. But generally speaking, no barnyard animals (this is mostly for the intermediate books, as picture books without barnyard animals are difficult to find, though this years nominees, not yet announced, I think have no barnyard animals).

Wait, Mekhi said that about SLJ?

And I was wrong on the Mekhi front - full story.

I have a small event tonight that I should be working on. But that means carrying things around and the cold weather is making me all achy. Bah.

Better get to it anyway.
