What is even happening?

I watched 30 minutes of Point Pleasant and my God, I want those minutes back. It's just godawful. Crap acting, blah dialog, shoddy editing, ludicrous premise--you name it, it's got it. What the hell is Marti doing?
I don't think I made it 10 minutes, and I still feel ripped off.
Switzerland has been great, but I miss the house where I made all my parenting mistakes.
Hee. Safe travels back home, Gus.

I think the central time zone Buffistas potentially have it made. They're not usually the first ones here, so there's usually a little real time conversation by the time they get here. And (Gus excepted) they're seldom the last ones here, thus avoiding the position of poster who kills a thread for the night.

As far as I know, we didn't get dirty bombed, yet. *sigh*

Hi, Nilly.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Not that terrorists are necessarily the most logical ones around, but why dirty-bomb Boston, the city in the state of the losing opposition candidate, when you've got a perfectly lovely Inaugural to crash in the symbolic center of the Great Satan US?

Only if you're a Republican Terrorist, evidently... and I don't mean Republican Guard, either.

In other news, timelies!

We've got a a pristine blanket of snow out there, about an inch and a half. And I just checked the weather forecast, and we won't be above freezing for at least the next five days....

Why couldn't this weather have happened last week, when I was in sunny and t-shirty Tucson?

Welcome back, Gus! Not that, you know, anyone's ever really away, this being a global world now and everything.

Sorel, FWIW, is hibiscus flower.

Huh. Did not know that. I've had both sorel and hibiscus tea, and I can see some similarity, but I don't think I would have connected them.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Safe-travel-home-ma for Gus!

I haven't left the house for four days, thanks to the stoopid head-cold snot monster. I'm afraid I'm going to have to go out and get formula today, though--I forgot to have DH pick some up last night.

I'm glad I didn't waste any precious time on Point Pleasant. I didn't even clutter up the TiFaux with it.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

DH was watching some insipid commentary on genocide.

That was pretty dumb (although it did have the cool factor of being hosted by Linda Ellerbee), but it followed the first part of what looks to be an excellent documentary on the Holocaust. I caught the last hour or so, and it was very well done, even the reenactments were well-performed. The other two parts are being broadcast next week and the week following.

As for what makes me cry, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is a guaranteed open spigot, ET gets me every time, and the first time I really bawled watching an insipid TV movie was "Something for Joey," back in the late 70s/early 80s (kid dying from leukemia, his pro-football-playing big brother supports him in his final days--waaahhh!!). The song that gets me every.damn.time is "Puff the Magic Dragon," for some reason.

I did, but then canceled the recording and erased the few minutes (Lost runs long) that it did catch. I was a bit relieved not to have to like a show for which I'd always be missing the first 3-4 minutes, on account of Lost.

The song that gets me every.damn.time is "Puff the Magic Dragon," for some reason.

It gets you, because that little rat-bastard Johnny Paper forgot all about poor Puff, and he ceased his mighty roar.

Or you know, possibly because it is about the death of childhood innocence and it's a killer.

Someone posted a while ago about a Buffy alum guest starring on Veronica Mars.

Well, it's not Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Warning, that link contains plot details for the episode, so I didn't actually read it. If you don't want to click, the guest star will be, in fact Alyson Hannigan.

God it's beautiful here this morning. Mid-twenties, so it's cold enough to be bracing without being unpleasant, light winds, snow falling. Just back from dog walking - wish I didn't have to go to work and could take her back out. We're supposed to get 6-12 inches this weekend.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Gak. I am two days behind on tv watching and have yet another evening activity tonight (FTR, work meeting, bookclub, work event). I am ready for a night to myself.

Welcome back Gus!
