I just think it's rather odd that a nation that prides itself on its virility should feel compelled to strap on forty pounds of protective gear just in order to play rugby.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

How about you?

I'm all right. A little overwhelmed by the massive life change, and the having no cash flow, and the needing to write a review paper, which I don't know how to do since I've never done it before. But okay.

but within a couple days of the buyout announcement

Buyout announcement? Who's buying LJ? What's going on? And just as I was planning on beginning to use it, too.

What amuses me is that when LJ went down, I did my typical connection check. The first three sites I checked were also down, so I was thinking it was something to do with my connection. But no, it just happens that my Three Site Check happened to be three sites ALL running out of the same co-lo as LJ.

Ha! That's awesome.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Ha! That's awesome.

Well, my three-site check is basically a run of a local TV station and two local papers, because they're normally near the top of my last-visited list from morning news checks.

The TV station is in the same physical building as the co-lo. (Which is why I know anything at all about said co-lo--it's the station Paul used to work at.)

This tale of Mario and the Princess is SO WRONG, but hilarious. (Not work-safe.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Thanks to the fact that I can't let it go when I get a wrongly addressed email, I now have some woman trying to figure out how/if we're related. Ha.

we know a couple that works at Peoplesoft - both are likely to be out of a job. bleecch

Yeah, two friends of mine work there. Everyone in the company is getting a letter today via UPS. Some of the letters will say, "welcome to Oracle, you have Monday off!" and the others will say, "come into the office on Monday and clear out your stuff."

The bathing suit I decided I wanted is not in stock. Bastards.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

You're still in school for the spring, right?

Buyout announcement? Who's buying LJ? What's going on?

LJ was bought by Six Apart... last week, maybe? Something like that.

Yeah, writing my Master's thesis and taking my last class. Hope to be done by May. Then I have to find a job.

Yeah, employment is a Good Thing. Good luck. I've got a friend from college who made the same call you did about a year ago, and while it was obviously stressful at first, he's a lot happier now than he was while he was still in the program.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Re Tom Delay: ... well, actually, I have no words. Unless I can tell him face to face I'm not going to waste the psychic or emotional energy on despising him.

Happy Birthday, msbelle!

Best wishes to the nephew of Kristin's heart, and his family.

I miss LJ too.

Oh Theo--what a gorgeous picture! Looking at that, though, it seems it'd be real easy for giraffes to drown. I never noticed before how dorsal their nostrils are.

'suela, look here! Best of both worlds. I'm SO envious of your NZ trip. Post lots of pictures.
