Hee. Glad to please, Lee.
Okay, off to beat people's heads in.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

annoying news: we know a couple that works at Peoplesoft - both are likely to be out of a job. bleecch
Have good violence.
Katie, how are you doing? I have not said anything to you since the Deathmatch finished.
Well, I've been a little pouty, 'cause you've been ignoring me...
No, no, that's not true. I'm good. Looking forward to a long weekend with nothing in particular to do. I just finished setting up a trip to Costa Rica in April, so I'm still feeling pretty jazzed about that. (Wanna go tomorrow! Well, maybe not tomorrow.) Work is... still there. How about you?
Okay, off to beat people's heads in.
So, just another routine day in the life of ita.
Bwah! I know it's probably just a coincidence, but within a couple days of the buyout announcement I got e-mails telling me that my paid subscription was coming to an end, and it got cancelled last night when it should have lasted until tomorrow judging from the info in the first e-mail. No biggie since I wanted to rethink my icons for the new year anyway, but both events combined with the big server roast are not filling me with confidence in the new ownership.

The co-lo hadn't changed. Given what I know about the specific co-lo in question's construction (it's located in Paul's old building, and in terms of their actual tech and backups, is top-notch), it sounds like a case of Massive Human Error on Internap's part. Or on the part of the construction crews supposedly working on the second floor. I'm tempted to have Paul call friends who still work in the building so as to get the inside scoop.
What amuses me is that when LJ went down, I did my typical connection check. The first three sites I checked were also down, so I was thinking it was something to do with my connection. But no, it just happens that my Three Site Check happened to be three sites ALL running out of the same co-lo as LJ.
How about you?
I'm all right. A little overwhelmed by the massive life change, and the having no cash flow, and the needing to write a review paper, which I don't know how to do since I've never done it before. But okay.
but within a couple days of the buyout announcement
Buyout announcement? Who's buying LJ? What's going on? And just as I was planning on beginning to use it, too.

Ha! That's awesome.
Ha! That's awesome.
Well, my three-site check is basically a run of a local TV station and two local papers, because they're normally near the top of my last-visited list from morning news checks.
The TV station is in the same physical building as the co-lo. (Which is why I know anything at all about said co-lo--it's the station Paul used to work at.)
This tale of Mario and the Princess is SO WRONG, but hilarious. (Not work-safe.)
