What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

'Suela, Kronos Quartet! That's awesome. I only know them from Requiem for a Dream, and I didn't see them when they came here last year cause, you know, expensive tickets, but I hope you have a great time.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Yeah, I'm not good at packing light, so I'm always going to tell you to have more space. You're going for a month, right? Is this going to be your only piece of luggage?

I think I'll bring a small backpack too, for day hikes and stuff. So I'm thinking maybe the medium, which does have 2,000 ci of space. That's a lot, right?

And with the smaller bag I won't need wheels, I think.

24 days, to be precise.

Oh, and P-C, a friend of mine and Java Cat's is playing with Kronos Quartet. She's in an avant-garde handbell ensemble, and this is like a lifelong dream for her, so we're very excited.

The status is NOT quo.

'Suela, I tend to prefer two smaller bags than one big one just for the weight and where-do-I-put-this-thing factor.

good point, Kristin.

Katie, are you still around? I'm looking at the VVC signup and trying to decide if I want Saturday lunch. Did you do that last year? How was it?

Wow! Very cool.

Initially, I thought she was in an avant-garde handball ensemble.

an avant-garde handball ensemble.

That could have its appeal too...

They pay me in WOIMS

The thing that killed me when I went to NZ were the books I brought to read on the plane.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I am a fan of travelling with wheels. Wheels are good, even if you think you're packing light/small. Also, I am the queen of packing a suitcase with an extra (fabric) suitcase packed inside, for the later transportation of any crap I should buy while traveling.

I am not smart enough not to buy 40 lb. worth of books 3000 miles away from my house.

Also, I just think wheelie duffles are cool. (Vote Burgundy! Choose BUrgundy!)
