So Teppy, can you get a day off work by calling your boss and saying, "I really have to pray today"?
I've never tried it, but now I'm tempted....
Is the National Day of prayer always on Cinco de Mayo? 'Cause tequila usually makes me want to have a little chat with God.
Heh. I think it's always on the first Thursday in May. It sucks that it's not a Friday or Monday.
Pray at your desk, missy!
Hmm. I wonder if that would help make the next 75 minutes evaporate?
I just got back from a continuing education class that was one of the most painful courses I've ever attended. In addition to technical problems and a presenter with a cold, in order to show us what biased behavior looked like, they showed clips from
Family Guy.
On the other hand, at one point, when the presenter was explaining that she was using "people with different sexual orientation" instead of just "gay", because gay didn't cover lesbians, bi-sexuals, transsexuals, or transgendered, and because "there might be other groups out there whose sexuality I haven't mentioned," I had a very buffista moment, and thought "Furries" and then had to stifle a giggle for about 10 minutes.
When I lived in the South, everybody gave Good Friday.
Not in Atlanta.
The old mgmt. gave us New Year's, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and 2 days at Xmas. They added Memorial Day after suffering through the first year in the new bldg. with no AC.
The new Swiss overlords added President's Day, Day after Thanksgiving, New Year's Eve, and a floating day.
Presenter has never heard of "queer"?
I think "queer" was too loaded, or some such dreck.

Dude. I just learned what Furries and Plushies were last week.
On ER.
EWWWWWWWWWWW

Dude, that would be the GOOD part, for me!
My company gave us New Year's Eve as our first holiday of the year. For the rest, we get President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, the day after same, and what Canada and UK would call Boxing Day but they call "Christmas Day Observed." We also get four floating holidays this year, which is a twist. We usually get three. I think it's to compensate for using Dec 31 of 2004 as a 2005 holiday.
Alberta Family Day believe it or not.
I followed the link and saw that. OMGWTFRALFF?!? Things are different out there, I can assure you.
