Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Maybe there is a secret Canadian holliday.

Great. Now the Mounties are going to have to hunt you down.

Okay, Newfies never work, do they? But Albertans have a February holiday -- they're just shafted for the rest of the year.

I remember when we used to spend at least a month in Nfld every summer, it seemed like every Monday was a "bank holiday."

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Sort of like the extra reading week at Trent in response to the high suicide rate?

I can't even.

ETA: Whoops! It's in Alberta. Damn Albertans!

What is it, Heritage Day? Wayne Gretzky Departure Mourning Day? Sheikdom of Ralph Day?

t just back from AB, still feeling the snark

If I only had a brain...

I get precisely 8, with the long New Year's-Memorial day drought.

When I lived in the South, everybody gave Good Friday.

I don't think I've ever worked in a job that gave MLK Day or President's Day.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The job before this one we got 5, I think (Xmas, NY, Turkey, Labor and Independence). They mocked the idea that we should stop selling for any other reason -- but weren't above having our paychecks delayed because "the banks aren't open anyway..."

I look more rad than Lutheranism

I know that I'm the only Buffista who gets, as a paid holiday, the National Day of Prayer. For real. Big!Boss is a fundie, so lo and behold, we get that day off. Also Good Friday.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

So Teppy, can you get a day off work by calling your boss and saying, "I really have to pray today"?

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Is the National Day of prayer always on Cinco de Mayo? 'Cause tequila usually makes me want to have a little chat with God.

New Orleans city holidays=New Years Day, MLK, Mardi Gras, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence, Labor, Thanksgiving, Veterans Day (Observed)[the day after Thanksgiving] and Christmas. Nothing discretionary. There are some additional days when the offices are closed but no one gets holiday pay, yo're supposed to work extra hours the rest of the week to make up for it.
