Headache isn't gone, but it's a little better. Either that or it seems less significant after spending most of the day hanging 30' in the air by a caribeener.

So I admit to watching Medical Investigations. Strangely fascinated with the male lead, from the all too short days of Boomtown (they should have kept the multiple narratives.)And next ep is a smallpox one. And I finished Demon in the Freezer recently. Not sure if I can watch, either for the SCARY factor or the factual factor.
That sounds... exciting, aurelia. I hope it didn't mess up your neck more.

Another reason I just couldn't take more lighting classes. Skeered of heights makes it difficult to get into those hard to reach places.
Hippo Birdies to MM!!!!
Hope the world domination lessons for the wee sprat are coming along well.
The subject of Demon in the Freezer fascinates and horrifies me, but I hated the way Richard Preston wrote it.
I remember liking The Coming Plague [link] much better, but that was almost ten years ago. I should go back and re-read it to see how it holds up.

Heh. Lighting focus at Steppenwolf. The set is mostly raked platforms at various heights, so everything overhead was done from focus tracks. So...I was in a seat strapped to a carrier in a curtain track for much of the day.
While I'm working and for a few hours after, it seems to loosen up the muscles a bit. I'll know in the morning if it helped or hurt my neck.
Ah. I'd wondered if you'd taken up climbing or S&R.
but I hated the way Richard Preston wrote it.
I had no previous work of his to compare it to. It was reportlike with a few personal observations thrown in, which I'm ok with considering how much of my time is spent reading academic journals. It pulled you through enough, which is always an issue with writing of this sort.

The heights don't bother me, but I am firmly against falling from heights.
I tended to be more tense back in my arena-rigging days when the drop was 80 - 100'. You just don't ever relax in that situation.
Wait. The Hot Zone was the Richard Preston book that was in the bookstores at the same time and about the same subject as The Coming Plague.
The Demon in the Freezer is about smallpox. I still hated Richard Preston's writing style, and the subject still fascinates and horrifies me.
I lived in Pakistan and India from 1974 through 1982. I met people who had survived smallpox.
I was vaccinated against smallpox in 1974 and then again in 1977. My immune system didn't react either time. If I'm ever exposed to smallpox I am SOL.
