Skeered of heights makes it difficult to get into those hard to reach places.
The heights don't bother me, but I am firmly against falling from heights.
I tended to be more tense back in my arena-rigging days when the drop was 80 - 100'. You just don't ever relax in that situation.
Wait.
The Hot Zone
was the Richard Preston book that was in the bookstores at the same time and about the same subject as
The Coming Plague.
The Demon in the Freezer
is about smallpox. I still hated Richard Preston's writing style, and the subject still fascinates and horrifies me.
I lived in Pakistan and India from 1974 through 1982. I met people who had survived smallpox.
I was vaccinated against smallpox in 1974 and then again in 1977. My immune system didn't react either time. If I'm ever exposed to smallpox I am SOL.
The Coming Plague was a great book, if very scary. Unfortunately, I loaned it to some low-life scum who didn't return it.
In my case the non-returner is my Dad. I would pester him to send it back, but it's probably lost among all the boxes of books in his basement.
Today's discovery (this morning's conversation had me thinking of it): Vince Vaughn has aged better than Jon Favreau.
As Vince Vaughn hasn't aged especially well, this is kind of sad. And I need to watch Swingers again.
Also, without the hat, Dwight Yoakam's head looks really, really large and weird.
Swingers
is right up there on my list of "Now you've lived in LA -- look again!" movies. Right next to
Clueless.
Just ordered pizza which is step one of me caving under headache pressure. Imitrex worked for a little. Now, flexoril and ginger ale.
I hope you feel better soon, ita.

Aye-yup. Just watched Dodgball. Which was surprising funny.
I need to watch Clay Pidgeons again.
