Also if the Doctor and Swim Coach on WAT looked familiar?
That's because they were both on Buffy! The Doctor played John Lee in Season 3 (rejects Cordy for being Xander's ex) and the Swim Coach played Robson in season 7.

Christ, that black chick looks older than I am. The others look within normal TV-teen realm, but I thought the black actress was playing a teacher. Weird.
That was the source of my comment.
Leasing offices should not be open just standard working hours. They should be open 11-7 or 7-3 or something. And if they say they open at 8:30, they should be open.
Wasted 45 minutes this morning....
sarameg, the scary thing is that Olivia Wilde (the Alex actress) is only 20
Which makes her six years younger than Benjamin McKenzie. (He was born the same month I was, which makes it much easier for me to remember how old he is.)
Also re: The O.C.: Is there an extratextual reason for Jimmy to leave? Because I'll give them slack on it if it's a case of the actor wanting to move on, but within the story I agree it's dreadful parenting on the character's part.
I never have any idea how old people are -- if I'm thinking of them as my peers, I assume they are the same age as me, but that's about it.
Same here. What's weird is that now the young people in my office are my brother's age, 23, and I'm not quite used to the fact he is, legally, an adult.
I have no idea if I look my age or not. I know I used to look younger than, but now I get called ma'am a lot, whcih makes me feel like I look old.
LJ, he said that there was nowhere left to go with the character -- he'd intended to not return for S2 at all, but they dangled the Julie romance, so he stayed that long.
I thought Modest Mouse had an interesting sound. I was thinking, hey these kids are into 80s funk-punk.
And then I realized that I think that they sound like a knockoff of the Talking Heads
Yeah, kinda sorta. Not sure I could listen to a lot of it, but it was refreshing to hear that one time. First time I'd watched the OC in ages. I had trouble IDing a couple of the fringe characters, but nothing much else seems to have changed. The writers seem to be phoning Seth in though. ION, cast still pretty.
Liked the Modest Mouse song they had underscoring scenes at the end, didn't care much for the club scene.
I love Ryan so much. And Kirstin. Not together though, 'cause, eww.
I'm just waiting for when Seth whines about Ryan not punching anyone, Ryan is all, OK, and BAM! Right in Seth's pretty face.
Thanks, ita. In that case, they did a pretty good job of writing the character off in a way that is plausible and permanent without being irrevocable. More importantly, it dangles the possibility they could move Marissa to Hawaii before too long.
Also, I bought the Modest Mouse CD and basically only liked "Float On" and the song from the end of the episode, "The World at Large."
So I won't have to be scared by the Teeth anymore? Good to know.
RE: the OC
ITA and would add that Jimmy's parenting skills are actually worse than Julie's. I may hate Julie and think she's a wrong headed crackpot, but she at least pretends to be working in the best interest of her daughter.
Also, it was nice to see Marissa as a normal looking teen, even if she was wearing a USC sweatshirt.
WRT Kirstin/Sandy, it occurs to me that they are the only real adults on the show, including their own parents. Yet they aren't perfect. They screw up, they end up sitting in a closet afraid to face the world or drinking like a fish. But still, god forbid anything should happen to them.
Though if this were an ME show, since they are so beloved, they would die tragically. Or move to England to help a coven and in order to force everyone else around them to Grow Up.
Nora, there will be no more talk of punching The Seth.
