RE: the OC

ITA and would add that Jimmy's parenting skills are actually worse than Julie's. I may hate Julie and think she's a wrong headed crackpot, but she at least pretends to be working in the best interest of her daughter.

Also, it was nice to see Marissa as a normal looking teen, even if she was wearing a USC sweatshirt.

WRT Kirstin/Sandy, it occurs to me that they are the only real adults on the show, including their own parents. Yet they aren't perfect. They screw up, they end up sitting in a closet afraid to face the world or drinking like a fish. But still, god forbid anything should happen to them.

Though if this were an ME show, since they are so beloved, they would die tragically. Or move to England to help a coven and in order to force everyone else around them to Grow Up.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I miss having the governor call a state of emergency and sending everyone in Boston home at noon, so I'd be sipping hot chocolate and watching soaps by 1:30.

I wonder how much rain we need for that to happen in LA.

I bet it's Marissa 's.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Jimmy is a better friend that Julie to Marissa, but they both pretty much suck as parents. Kirsten and Sandy rock the parenting, and hard. Love them.

msbelle, Jimmy's. I'm not sure why. I'm just fine until he smiles really big.

yes, ita, I agree. Jimmy is closer to her, but honestly, he is the worst parent in the world because she doesn't really factor into his decision making. Julie's a bitch on wheels but at least she makes a show of pretending to remember she has at least one daughter on occasion. even if only to use Marissa as showpiece.

HA! ok. well no great loss in my book, but some new adults would be nice - otherwise it's going 90210 very quickly.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OMG, speaking of 90210, Ian Ziering was on TLC's Overhauling last night, and he was absolutely charming, even when he though he was being screwed with about his car and even when he WAS being screwed with by the show -- calling him ee-an, and asking about his ex-wife and whatnot. So that's good.

Jimmy is a better friend that Julie to Marissa, but they both pretty much suck as parents. Kirsten and Sandy rock the parenting, and hard. Love them.

Yeah, that's fair.
