Wait. You go with the class rings, but give Jesse grief for the pimp cups?

I do not see them as similar in any way. Sure some men's class rings can get ginormous and tacky, but not all - and they signify completion of a milestone.
and they signify completion of a milestone.
So do pimp cups, surely?

Hmm. First 'ho? First arrest? First acquittal? I can see that.

Yeah, once you get your last merit badge in Smackin' and Mackin' you graduate to Pimp, and them you get your cup and bling and your velvet hat with a feather.
It's the ginormous and tacky thing, msbelle, but you're right, as social signifiers go, "class" tends to be much more substantial than "pimp." Then again, "pimp" might just be a bit more exclusive.
Damn. I need to do work, but b.org is fun today with the resurgence of showtalk.
In random news, my lunch was a super delicioso burrito from Tlaloc, but I did that thing where a sharp piece of tortilla chip wedges into your gumline. Yowtch.
Prominent class rings seem to be a big thing in Texas, too.
From a million posts back, thanks to Cashmere for filling Cindy in on the Bradley method. Bradley's definitely a nutty guy (for instance, he thinks "uterus" is too technical a term for mothers-to-be, so he says "baby box"), but the idea of preparation, relaxation, avoiding the epidural, and reducing the need for episiotomies is very appealing to us.
You people confused me up there, with sara and hayden and consuela's posts -- I thought Mrs. hayden was going to be giving birth underwater! But nsm, right?
Hey, I thought the same thing when I read it. We are going to have a birthing tub handy at the birthing center, so it's a possibility, just not a foregone conclusion.
Finally, I am pro-pimp cup in theory, but in practice, I prefer the pimp travel mug. Less sloshy.
pfft. they signify nothing. and while I suppose anyone can buy some class rings, I do know if schools that require a certain # of hours before they can be purchased. double pfft.
So, Matt, what is the deal? Overtime is just another name for unpaid work? Not a good way to encourage a strong work ethic, I'd imagine.
I suspect it's only just dawned on her that the way that's worded means putting deadlines in a crunch-prone business at the mercy of resentful workers whose motivation to put in more than 40 hours has been eliminated.
I mean, in the past I've had no real objection to working long hours (within reason), but that was with the expectation of either getting paid for them or receiving compensatory time off. Somehow I don't see working nights and weekends out of sheer gratitude for a company that's now throwing up roadblocks to me taking time off that I've already earned and making me get up at the crack of dawn so everyone's hours look the same on a chart somewhere.
