Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

did you happen to catch on the news that Menino was trying to stop Southie people from saving their shoveled-out parking spaces?

YES!

My favorite part was an old woman putting a trash can in her shoveled out space and saying, "What does he care? He has a DRIVEWAY."

It's tradition. You shovel your space, put your trash can in it, and it's yours. Perhaps it would be easier for Menino to get it if everyone just put a fucking flag in their spot and claimed it for Spain.

What is even happening?

I posted it the other day, but you were still home. Jimmy Kelly said he's got more barrels than the city has trucks. And one guy, who had replaced a toilet, and couldn't get the city to take the old one, used the old one as his place holder. He said either they take it and he wins, or they don't, and he still has his spot, and wins.

I love street smarts. I don't have them. They make my knees weak.

Watcing the Mars thing on NOVA (hi lori!)

Am cracking up over the montages of yawning engineers and scientists and crapass junkfood (ice cream bars) and cranky ass fits. I know these people (not literally, but... )

I work with them (not this group, a different one- one less prone to immediate ah-hahs and fits ) and was raised amidst them (including planetary! But Jupiter's red spot, not mars.)

Allyson! Thanks for the My Aunt Came Back link. Must find an opportunity to give it to MY nephew...

Now tagless for your comfort.

I'm watching Supersize Me and it's freakin' fascinating. And scary.

Um. Yeah. Me too. Sure. Especially when they use all the CD-Rs and put the empty container back on the shelf.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

"Welcome to Mars" on Nova was very good.

Especially when they use all the CD-Rs and put the empty container back on the shelf.

Hahah!

Your place too? Over 500 CD-R went unaccounted for last fiscal year. Oh, the fuss. It was probably 90% legitimate work, but not work from our budget. People just knew there was a stash in room X, and so when they needed them....
