If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I came across a book in the attic the other day that I used to just love: The Meanest Squirrel I Ever Met, about a squirrel con-man.

Also found my old Fisher-Price abacus. Two of the bars are missing, though, so now it's base eight.

An Elfquest abacus!

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I wish I could find a stuffed tiger that looks like Hobbes. My nephew looks a lot like Calvin. Maybe there's a pattern and I can make a Hobbes. Gah.

I'm totally sickeningly Auntie-fied.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Allyson, I love the Frances books and the David books. Emeline got 2 of the David's for Christmas.

And also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ITA!

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Happy Birthday, ita!

I'm with Nilly and the Harold love. In fact, I loved that book so much, it's probably the first one I ever wrote in. It's still in my parent's house somewhere.

I purchased this luggage when I was home. It's making me very happy. And people at the airport kept complimenting me on it.

What is even happening?

Allyson, during nephew-fest, did you happen to catch on the news that Menino was trying to stop Southie people from saving their shoveled-out parking spaces?

(oh that is cute luggage)

YES!

My favorite part was an old woman putting a trash can in her shoveled out space and saying, "What does he care? He has a DRIVEWAY."

It's tradition. You shovel your space, put your trash can in it, and it's yours. Perhaps it would be easier for Menino to get it if everyone just put a fucking flag in their spot and claimed it for Spain.

What is even happening?

I posted it the other day, but you were still home. Jimmy Kelly said he's got more barrels than the city has trucks. And one guy, who had replaced a toilet, and couldn't get the city to take the old one, used the old one as his place holder. He said either they take it and he wins, or they don't, and he still has his spot, and wins.

I love street smarts. I don't have them. They make my knees weak.
