They should film that story and show it every Christmas.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Now I'm feeling like I should have a green card too....

heh It's the Tom convergence factor. Scola may pop by feeling slightly confused as well...

Are you ready to be strong?

Thank you, Nora!

I'm laughing over the fact that people apparently ran off with the real (as opposed to paper) dishes used by the new cafeteria and didn't return them. I mean, it isn't as if there are a bunch of rocket scientists...oh wait. This line in the admonishment cracks me up: "... you will receive your meal beautifully presented on porcelain..."

Happy birthday, ita.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

"... you will receive your meal beautifully presented on porcelain..."

My meals tend to lack in presentation.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Happy birthday, ita!!

Good luck, Tom!

I was all prepared to sleep in this morning, after staying up too late reading last night, and with no plans for the day...until my phone started ringing at 8 am because the guy was here to fix my bathroom ceiling. Can I get some notice? Damn. If I had a real job, I would have been especially pissed -- 8 am is prime getting-ready time!

Now I want a nap.

This food service provider is much more...classy, I guess, than the usual (and previous) caf service, which leaned towards flavorless grey veggies from a can and oversalted soups. From huge cans. Generic caf food.

Now we have artisanal (what the hell does that mean, anyway) breads and gourmet mayos, exotic veggie fare (like...avocados! Ok, exotic for a caf.) And, of course, a 10-20% price increase.

The few times I've gotten food there I'd say the price increase is warranted-as the food is much better- but I'm too cheap to eat there regularly.

Happy Birthday, ita!

Much green card ~ma for Tom!

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Oh yeah, definitely with the greencard-ma to Tom. Sadly, the INS is actively hostile these days, not merely indifferent. Still, if you've jumped through all their elaborate hoops, they have to grudgingly hand it over.

Well, according to the lawyers, he's been a resident since December 14, and everything else is "purely administrative". However, "administrative" is where it can all go terribly wrong, is my fear. Also, just because in a database somewhere, you're listed as a resident, it doesn't mean much without the tangible proof, when you're, say, trying to travel internationally.
