Alas, I'll be back at work after New Year's Day.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Bummer. I think the week between is a big week to go to Vegas, so there aren't so many deals.
Price isn't so much a consideration as time off work, these days.
And besides, we have a year to plan.
Yeah, I'm not worried about it. This is ND and JohnSweden's baby, and I think they're already checking deals.
I'll be there, I just don't know for how long. I'll probably only be able to come in the morning of the 30th and have to fly back on the 1st. But who cares? I'm going.

Luckily, NYE is Saturday night next year. Perfect!
Speaking of NYE, tommyrot, are you coming over?
according to the paper, there was a twister in LA last night [link] sounds like end times to meI seldom watch the news, because I hates it, I does. But dh had it on and I was reading, so it didn't seem right to complain. Anyhow, they showed SoCal, and they showed the flooding in Vegas (!) about which I knew nothing.
They also (I wonder if Allyson has any internet access) showed Boston's Mayor sending trucks out to South Boston, to remove the barrels, cones, chairs, and other parking spot place-savers people put out on the streets.
For people here whose only exposure to the Boston neighborhoods is Good Will Hunting, well...maybe learning that one of the City Councilors (Jimmy Kelly--the localistas might recognize his name) was talking to the news saying, "I've got more barrels than he has trucks," will help you understand these folks aren't going to be cowed.
There is little-to-no off-street parking, and lots of multi-family housing, so lots of cars. The streets are narrow, and there's little to no place to put the snow you've shoveled. If you've shoveled out a parking space, neighborhood rules say it is yours. Menino is forgetting this is an election year, and is not as smart as I thought, if he thinks he's going to beat the people of South Boston.
One resident decided that since the city already refused to pick up the old toilet he replaced, he will use that to guard his parking space. If they pick it up, he wins. If not, he has his parking spot, and still wins. I feel like doing a solidarity drive, and bringing them in old hard-to-dispose of items like TVs, Computer Monitors, etc.

This is brilliant. I take it Boston doesn't do the snow emergency thing, where you have to clear your car off the streets so the plows can get through, or your car is towed.

Oh, yeah, I'll be there.

Hee. God bless native wit.
