Really, we just like to scare people from out of town so they don't drive.
It worked. I moved.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

If he'd pulled over, it'd have been a wee bit less annoying.
OK, that actually sounds like a local move (i.e. cut off and/or block anyone possible). Any idea where you were - certain neighborhoods/outlying towns of greater Boston I can totally see the "wrong way/stop to chat" thing going down.
Naples road, which is one of the cross streets on that block
I lived at 16A Winslow Road! Like the next street over. Our landlord Dick and his, as we liked to call her concubine, Peg lived in the bottom of the house. He seemed to work on taxi cabs for a living. There were always a ton of them parked in the parking lot behind the house. We thought his "work" on them consisted of turning back the odometers. He was a sketchy dude but a nice landlord. He never complained about us and returned our hefty safety deposit back in full, in cash when we moved out. Even though we had done a job on the house somewhat.
A table of traffic fatalities in each state, ordered by per-capita rate. Stats are from 2002 - the most recent I found on google. Note the state with the lowest per-capita fatalities. I'll give you a hint - state flower: Mayflower!
yay?
That's kind of my response, Nora. I've never been to a live professional basketball game before, and I've rarely if ever watched a whole game all teh way through on tv. But I'm willing to believe it will be fun.

I'm curious how MA would fare if it was fender-benders per-capita.
I'm sad - most of the New England states are near the bottom, and all are at least in the bottom half, except for Maine.
Also, the Wiggles songs will now be permanently in your brain. Try not to fight it too much. This is true, you know. And then you may find yourself conflating earwormable pop with the children's songs. Today's first adventure in music involved me not being able to stop mixing the music of the Bob the Builder theme song, with the lyrics of Baby, You Can Drive My Car.
Drive my car babe, can you do it?
Drive my car babe, yes you can!
The second involved singing "Stomp, stomp, stomp. Doing the Yeti stomp," from The Backyardigans, and then sliding in a few notes of INXS's Need You Tonight, and tacking the "You're one of my kind" onto the end. I think I need medicating.
I don't think of Boston drivers as mean, so much as that it's a continuation of New England reserve. Maybe we were talking about the reserve in Bitches rather than here, yesterday, but it's sort of like how we don't say "hi" to complete strangers, or smile at them, or whatever. Our personal bubbles are huge. We see you trying to get into our lane, and we think, "Boy, that guy is going to have a hard time. I'll get out of his way," as we zoom past.
I have made grown men gasp in fear, as they've watched me walk across Boston streets, even other Bostonians. But damn baby, life is short. You look the approaching drivers right in the eye and just walk.
I lived on the 4th floor of Shelton in my junior year
Teeny world! Freshman year I ended up with a triple to myself due to one roommate finding a boyfriend at BC and the other getting kicked out of the dorms because of excessive drug dealing. It rocked. I'm now best friends with one of the people who was placed in my room there sophmore year.

-t, I love going to live basketball almost as much as I'm bored by the televised event. The squeak of the shoes, the grace of the players, watching people who are courtside.... All of it is a LOT of fun. (Not as fun as hockey, but hey.) Have fun tonight!

Yeah, Myles was great because the way it was set up, if you had a room there for a year you could get a single in a suite the next year at the very least. They also had a few solo single rooms (which I never had). Senior year I lived in a room on the point (the buiding being a flatiron style former hotel).
