'The Message'

Goodbye and Good Riddance 2004: Well, I Wasn't Expecting That.

Every year we watch the Charlie Brown special, do the Snoopy dance, wish everybody a Merry Christmukkah, and thank our Secret Santas in the good riddance thread. Which is this one, in case you were wondering. Oh, and 2004? Don't think we've forgotten about you.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Heh. I think she means if we wanted to do a SUPER super slacker seekrit santa.

No no, you're moving into super duper territory now.

Not javachik

Raquel is pregnant! Way cool!

Okay, I skimmed, so I checked back and Sean and Steph don't really want to participate. That leaves 4 of you. If TopicCindy is truly in, I'll assign super duper slacker seekrit santa (tomorrow. going home now) unless someone else grabs it.

Anyone else in?

I believe vampires are the world's greatest golfers

Re: super duper secret santas. You don't actually need even numbers for a gift exchange. I know it seems that way at first, but for example, if A, B, and C participate, then A can give to B, B to C, and C to A. Voila!

Heh. But it's not very Secret if there's only three of you!

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

OK, this is my first seekrit santa exchange. The box appears to be from my santa - do I open now, or save for Christmas? There are no directions on the box (not that I thought to do likewise for my recipient).

Because books.

My seekrit Santa gift is going in the mail today, with some overseas gifts. Late, as usual. Fingers crossed the post office has its collective shit together this year.

This year was up and down for me. Started off with a new baby, who was an unexpected and lovely gift, and sped into hellish writing deadlines -- and the unlovely surprise of that project imploding. But around that time I discovered this place, which I love.

Sold two other books, which was very good, despite agreeing to impractical deadlines (at least with a baby in the house). And then we found out we had to move, very unexpectedly and very quickly. That sucked, to be quite plain, but while we don't love where we are, the kids didn't have to change schools and we actually have more space than we did before.

Stephen's mom died, which was not unexpected but still very difficult, and Oldest Son is embracing the attitude of a thirteen-year-old with a vengeance. But we're still here, we're still together, and we laugh a lot. Hoping 2005 accomplishes that, too, if nothing else.
