OK, here's my "non-obvious" (stuff that I might forget) checklist of stuff to bring - stuff that's not clothes, toiletries, etc. Also includes very important stuff to double-check.
- camera
- media/film for camera
- camera charger/charging cradle and/or batteries
- USB cable (make sure it has the right connector for your camera)
- media cable (to connect camera to TV, etc)
- cellphone
- cellphone charger
- list of contact #s - Buffistas, sitters, etc.
- iPod, CD player, etc.
- earphones
- charger, cable for iPod, etc.
- laptop
- laptop charger
- laptop AV cable (for TV)
- other laptop accessories (WiFi card, etc)
- watch
- wallet
- credit cards - especially if you need a specific card to get an eticket
- CDs, DVDs, tapes, iPod playlists
- tickets and/or airline, hotel confirmation #s
- prescriptions (make sure you have enough)
- earplugs
Anything else?

And now for something completely different, my August/September visit: I've booked my flights across the Pacific. I am scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles on Thursday, August 17 at 10:12 am, and will be leaving the country on Monday, September 4. All booked through frequent flyer miles, and First Class baybee! (I racked up a lot of miles in America.) I actually wanted to depart on the 6th, and apparently I can change my flight dates, so if anything opens up, the departure date may change.
