Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

May I ask to be included in the ND DC events?

Me, too.

If I stay in the Loop I presume I'll be close enough to transit to get to Quimby's and around town. Is that going to be dead at night or inconvenient to everybody else? What neighborhood is Quimby's in?

Also, if I go into Midway instead of O'Hare am I out in the boondocks? 'Cuz its cheaper going into Midway. Would I eat up that difference in shuttle expenses coming into the city?

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Midway is a lot closer to the Loop than O'Hare is. It's sort of the Wrigley Field of airports, because it's size is defined by the city blocks it was built on.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Quimby's is in Wicker Park / Bucktown. (There's some confusion over the two - people often use them interchangeably.) Pretty close to downtown, when compared with the rest of the city.

Both Midway and O'Hare have 'L' trains that go to them. O'Hare's goes into the terminal building itself. Both these trains can take you downtown in about 45 minutes and will cost $1.75.

It seems to me that most all the decent hotels are either downtown or near one of the airports. So I'd say downtown is your best bet. Unless others know of a good hotel in the near-north side.

Thanks, DXM and tommyrot!

Tom, can I email you about some logistical issues?

Sure!

Oh, I almost forgot - After the reading, if folks want to hang out at someplace less noisy and crowded than a bar, Miriam said we could have a little gathering / party at her house. She lives in Wicker Park, about a 10-15 minute walk from Quimby's.

If folks are interested then we should figure out how many people so I can confer more with her.

Compassionately intolerant

Greetings!

I'd love to be included in any Metro accessible ND viewing when he (and thee) is in DC. (howze that for trippy illiteration?) Just let me know the logistics.

Also, I can vouch for the coolocity of the University of Maryland fantasy art exhibit Toddson suggested. I went the first year it opened. At that time, it was pretty small but so. very. interesting. I learned buckets about scifi book art.

Looking forward to 'seeing' some of y'all...

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

It's like half an hour from the loop on the O'Hare blue line to Damen, I think, or Division. But it's been awhile. It's easy to walk around that whole neighborhood, and way interesting. It reminded me a lot of the Haight.

Taking the orange line from Midway-ish to Damen on the blue line will take about an hour to an hour and a half. Which, sadly, I know from experience.

I wish I was going to be there. :(

Yeah! Quit being faraway girl.

Bought my ticket. Arriving at Midway, Thursday (12/2) at 6:13pm on ATA. Leaving Sunday, (12/5) at 5:25pm. So I'll have some time to play on Sunday during the day as well. Wheee!
