Btw, still have my badge from the LA one but if someone wants to make badges this year, I'll take a new one. Is there anything I can help with? Other than badges? (Only because I'd have to make them at work and that can't happen.) I can keep a list of cell #'s or arrivals / departures...

Ahem. Yes, badges would be fantastic.

Not meaning to be nasty, just remembering how frustrating that situation was for this very reason last year.

Argh. I still feel incredibly upset about having lobbied so hard for NOLA last year, and then gotten financially fucked up the ass and unable to attend. So mad at myself and frustrated on behalf of all the people who couldn't make it, and the handful who did and who had so few others there.

And yet part of me is still glad, just because I know there were some who went who'd never been to NOLA before and it was such an amazing, breathtaking city (and will be again, someday, God willing, but it'll still be different, never exactly what it was before), and I'm so glad that even a handful of Buffistas made it there and saw it in all its glory before Katrina and Bush's minions fucked it over so royally.

I think the badges ought to look like tats.

BTW, did someone want to do badges?

As the maker of the badges for at least one F2F, people seem to wear them *maybe* the first night, and then not at all. [Nitpickers take note: yes, SOME Good Buffistas follow the rules and do wear their nametags for more than the first night. But it's a damn few, and if you look at people's photos from previous F2Fs, you'll see I'm not just engaging in hyperbole.]

That said, if someone who is not me wants to undertake the expense and time to make nametags that may or may not get worn, have at it. I'm too OCD and anal to make them and then see people not wear them, AND I'm hypocritical, because I never wear mine, either.

t edit Er -- I sound all bitter, and I'm not. However, it's worth considering that people really do ditch the nametags early and often. And the nice ones with a plastic protector that hang on a lanyard around your neck are a little pricey for things that get ditched. So maybe just get some stick-on Hello My Name Is tags?

My love of the badges, I must admit, is purely for keepsake reasons. I love my LA one and it hangs on my Buffista Photo Board in my room.

But if no one is able to make them, that's okay too.

For practicality, I like Steph's idea. For sentimentality and keepsake possibilties, I like the fancy lanyard style. It all boils down to whether or not anyone offers to make them. If not, well, I'm down with writing sarcastic comments on sticky tags.
