Wash: Well, I wash my hands of it. It's a hopeless case. I'll read a nice poem at the funeral. Something with imagery. Zoe: You could lock the door and keep the power-hungry maniac at bay. Wash: Oh, no, I'm starting to like this poetry idea now. Here lies my beloved Zoe, my autumn flower, somewhat less attractive now she's all corpsified and gross...

'Shindig'

F2F 3: Who's Bringing the Guacamole?

Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon: San Francisco, May 19-21, 2006! Everything else, go here! Swag!

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Ok, so, I want City Pimpage (tm) by the close of business PST on the 22nd. We will vote from the 26th through the 29th in the evening (It's finals for me, so I can't guarantee a specific time)

City Pimpage (tm) Format(everyone please give feedback on this):

City

  • Hotel blurbs (cost, ammenities, Prom & HS plans, parking, etc), plus a few Things to Do in the immediate area. Try to keep it short.
  • Alternate Hotel Stuff option: what we're looking at being able to get for each/any price level (all under $99/room). *
  • Transportation (public transit, especially. Where does it go? It is reliable? Easy to navigate?)
  • Number of locals and/or approximate free beds available
  • Anything else you'd like to highlight (or that other people have highlighted.)
  • Concerns, based on the above and other discussion.

(* I will be wicked pissy if you give us a list of all the ammenities of all the hotels in that range and don't say, "more or less any 3 of the following", or something. Don't be pitching us pool and free full breakfast if we won't be able to get both in one place.)

For those just joining the pimping: the rules of the hotel-choosing:

  • Rooms must be available in the hotel for under $100
  • High-Speed Internet must be available in the room
  • The hotel must have easy access (through proximity or public transit) to things to do
  • Easy Handicapped access, especially to Hospitality Suite and Prom Room
  • Prom venues must be within staggering distance of the hotel, if not within the hotel itself

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I sent our IFB (what DOES that stand for?) to Seattle's convention bureau this morning and already heard back from them with a few clarifying questions. Knock wood that this is a sign of things to come.

Always Anti-fascist!

Yeah, I'll check around. What the hell.

I can't even.

Invitation for bids, IIRC.

Such a smart sweet Canadian.

Even your plane crashes are polite.

I can't even.

I'm sure everyone got off that plane in an orderly and civilized fashion (and thank goodness that they apparently all got out of there).

The fact that no one was killed. What could be more polite than that?

It's like the plane was thinking, "oh dear, plumetting now, better be careful not to squash anyone inside of me."

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Abi, that figure of under $100?

I can tell you right off, there won't be one in this neck of the woods for under $100 that also includes the hotel tax. No false pretenses, here. The $99 rate is pre-tax, period.

If that's an issue, let me know now, and Seattle and Vegas and Phoenix and wherever else can duke it out.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I don't think you could do it in Seattle, either, not in a hotel that has the amenities and location we want.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Should we raise the limit to $125, then?
