There's an argument to decide dates and location ASAP. If we give them enough advance notice, we could book the entire hotel (and maybe get an even better deal!).
Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon: San Francisco, May 19-21, 2006! Everything else, go here! Swag!

Oh, that would be fun.
Though the rooms don't have private baths; they're shared baths, which is a deal-breaker for me.

You've shared a bathroom with Perkins and Jess before (among others I may be un-remembering). Just make sure you're on the floor with them.

A main deal in San Francisco is to remember that a lot of the hotel prices - and yes, hotel rooms in this town can be insanely expensive - will vary depending on neighbourhood. If you look at hotels in the traditional high tourist areas - Union Square, Nob Hill, the Wharf - you're looking at New York pricing or higher. But tourism being San Fran's major money-maker for so many years, there are hotels all over the City, and because we're not only small but equipped with decent public transport - and a bus or Metro ride is still only $1.25, and gets you a two-use transfer - it makes the choices a bit wider.
There's also the fact that the Bay Area has a high concentration of b.org residents, and most of us have wheels....
Anyway, I'm on it. I do like the concept of renting an entire hotel. One thing: have we block-booked for three nights at the rate, or four nights, in the past?
if we are in the SF area, I'll have a private bath no matter what.
So will the first person who asks to stay with me.
Heh. Same for whoever we put up.
Also, Perkins and I both have Posh Wheels.
Just popping in to say that I hated to miss this year's F2F, but my travel goal for next year was to make it to the West Coast anyway. Having never been there, I don't know that I'd have anything to offer for a vote, but I'm really going to try to put aside enough to make it there!
Oh, and a question, opinions please: I rather like the idea of hiring an entire small hotel or B&B for the doings. For one thing, the party would likely not be dependent on their catering, since the smaller boutique hotels are less likely to have that requirement.
So far, it's been straightforward hotels. If we could rent an entire small hotel or B&B, and everyone could choose their own rooms and who they shared a bath with, how would people feel about that? Because something like a thirty-room B&B would likely have shared baths.
And no, I'm not pushing it. Might not even be a possible. But should I check into it?
I'd say check into it, Deb. Then we can at least do the math and see how affordable it would be.
