See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Rooms must be available in the hotel for under $100

I think that the first expectation is unrealistic, for the quality/services of the kind of hotel we'd like, particularly in a city like San Francisco or Seattle.

Dunno about Seattle, but I think this actually won't be totally unrealistic for San Francisco if people double up -- even the Stanyan Park, the historical-register boutique hotel between our place and Deb's, has a base rate of $130, which is fairly reasonable when split in half, and extra rollaway beds for $20.

right. the room itself is not under $100. If we mean, under $100 per person, that's reasonable, but for the room itself, I don't think we can do it.

I'd really rather try first and then extend our range upward if it becomes necessary.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Well the rooms were $109 in NOLA, and folks complained that was too expensive, so I think Debet has stated the requirement correctly. Whether it's feasible is another question.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

if people double up

I think the expectation was under $100/night per room, not per person.

On the one hand, I agree that it's unrealistic for most of the cities we're considering. On the other hand, hotel cost has been a major attendance hurdle, so it might be worth making it a priority, even if we have to sacrifice other items on our wish list.

Okay, I take that back. But I still think it's feasible in San Francisco. Taking a quick Google around, I found this place -- rates sound reasonable, data ports in every room, and it's a short distance from downtown SF and right around the corner from Dark Garden, Citizen Cake and a restaurant/bar called Absinthe.

I have no idea how many rooms it has or whether it's handicapped-accessible (I would guess yes for the latter, just because the Bay Area is pretty fiercely regulated in this wise), but it's definitely the right price.
