It actually lowered my stress knowing that decisions were out of the way and not still looming. Different organizers work different ways, but for me having a deadline and getting decisions made and then being able to move on to the next decision makes it much easier to manage.

Maybe I'm just failing to see where the earlier deadlines helped because for *me*, they felt like more of a hinderance. Was there a substantial payoff to the earlier deadlines that I'm missing?

I think that the implication that anyone/anyplace was "blowing it" is unfair. We threw out some cities, we voted, we chose. As it happened, I'm one of the people who voted for NO, and didn't go, because the opportunity to buy a house came up. Hmm, perhaps this is an argument for waiting, because we can get a more realistic idea of who can actually come closer to time.
