Wow. I can't believe I used the word 'everyone' in a post last night. I mean, obviously I *did*, but that was pretty stupid. Even for me.
You think *you* feel stupid? *I'm* the one who dared to suggest a major change to The Way Things Are Done. Silly me. You'd think all the kerfluffles in B'crazy would have taught me *something.*
Every year: outliers (Australia, Israel, Maine), PISSED.
Well, yeah, but if you held it in Sydney it still wouldn't stop the Aussies getting pissed. Probably encourage it, in fact.
The gist was basically, could attend, could probably attend, could not attend for each destination.
I liked that poll, I learned something interesting from the results. I'm fully in favour of a similar approach.

They've taught me that you can never get tired of saying "Dance, crazy lady, dance".

It's true -- B'crazy should probably be renamed "Hey, Teppy: dance, crazy lady, dance!!!"

Next time a thread needs renaming, I'm proposing this.
And this year its the west coast's turn try and drum up a place easily accessable to them and hopefully they won't blow it.
I think that the implication that anyone/anyplace was "blowing it" is unfair. We threw out some cities, we voted, we chose. As it happened, I'm one of the people who voted for NO, and didn't go, because the opportunity to buy a house came up. Hmm, perhaps this is an argument for waiting, because we can get a more realistic idea of who can actually come closer to time.
For fares to Phoenix and Vegas, keep in mind that Southwest Airlines is not captured by Orbitz searches.

But not too long. We didn't know we'd have to cancel until into April.
I don't think there is any argument in waiting.
Wherever we have it, there are people who can go, there are people who can't. It's life. We'll pick a city for 2006 and have a blast. It sucked not more could come to NO, but we'll have a blast wherever it is. I do think the poll we used for 2004 was a better poll and gave us a better idea of who could come.
So.
Onward.
On Vegas - I've been in December, I've been in May, I've been in July and I've been in August. Like NOLA, everywhere is airconditioned. Unlike NOLA, NO HUMIDITY. People laugh at the "dry heat", but it makes a huge difference. Plus, damn near every hotel has pools and those pools have cabanas. And those cabanas have boys. We could, possibly, get enough into a slush fund to have a cabana for at least 2 days. And you can take your food and drinks into them and into the rooms. And on the street. And into other casinos.
Also, Southwest. Usually you can get $99 fares each way.
Maybe this is just my little nit but I want a larger turn-out for the next F2F. I'm sure the people that went to NO had a grand time and I'm not saying that anything was necessarily *wrong* with the way it was done last year, I just think we can improve on the process with a few tweaks.
I can also appreciate when people say that the heat isn't an issue because there's air conditioning everywhere. I just disagree. If I'd gone to NO, I'd have missed the group cemetary tour and the group lunches because DAMN! you guys looked hot. Of course, HAWT, but also HOT. Not everything is able to be done indoors.
Not everything is able to be done indoors.
There's nothing interesting outdoors in Vegas.
