I was hanging out with my NOLA relatives this weekend. They rhapsodised over places to get good hooch. The only one I can remember is Bank Cafe -- I think it was their martinis that stood out.
F2F 3: Who's Bringing the Guacamole?
Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon: San Francisco, May 19-21, 2006! Everything else, go here! Swag!
I just took a look at the Commander's Palace online menu. Are we thinking of doing the chef's playground tasting as a group? Because other than that, the food prices aren't looking nearly as scary as people's comments had led me to believe — the appetizer/entree/dessert combinations are in the 30s, and there are several a la carte entrees that are less than $30.
+wine. Which, in my experience, can quickly become a substantial portion of the bill when dining in a group. But $50/person was what I was mentally budgeting. That's a lot in my world.
Mine too, actually. But I was surprised to see that I have food options within a few miles of my home that would cost more than all except the grand tasting at Commander's (which is $85 without wine, by the way). I was expecting the entrees to start at $40 rather than finishing there.
Looks like rain this weekend. [link] Scattered thundershowers every day. Sometimes those don't come to much and you can just duck into a bar/museum/antique shop for the duration.
-t, is "scattered thundershowers" weatherese for, "it's summer, so there's automatically at least a 20% chance of rain, regardless," or a sign of something more serious?
Also, in the "to ingest" list, I'd add Dixie Beer if they still make it. Not that it's particularly great beer, but it is locally brewed.
Fred, Abita is locally brewed, too, and it's very good.
Don't drink beer, but I have to ask where the tag comes from DX. Hee.
Also, 48 hours from now I will be in the Fort Lauderdale airport waiting for my plane to depart!!!
Thundershowers now and again are a normal part of life for me. One of the many reasons I don't wear product in the hair or makeup. I expect to have to towel off from time to time.

12 hours from now my train will depart!
Theoretically.
Waves "bon voyage" to all the departing F2Fers.
Safe travels to you all, and take lots of pictures.
