Tivo problems

I've had that happen, Beth. Unplugging the cable box fixed it.
the cable box? like turn it off? not the TIVO?
cool . Looks like a number of people on the TIVO forums have had the problem - and no one is sure if it is a TIVO or Cable upgrade problem ...
I'll have to try it after it stops recording for tonight
I'm guessing a cable upgrade because my TiFaux is pulling the exact same nonsense. Will try the fix tonight.
So I downloaded the Ubuntu disk image and am posting from it now. It's not permanently installed yet, I just booted from the CD for a test run, but so far I'm liking it.
I wonder if S's old iBook will be able to see this computer now, and possibly the printer, through the router we use to share the DSL.
And my TiVo that is connected to the cable box had channel-changing problems last night!
However, the other TiVo didn't come back from a blackout quite right -- all I'm getting is a loud noise from the hard drive and the empty TiVo Central screen moving very slowly. I'm leaving it on in the hopes that its doing something mysterious but healing with hard disk space....
ETA: Now it's acting normal, if a bit loud. So I guess I'll eke out a little more use of it. Really, I'm just waiting until the poor thing dies so that I can justify getting a new one....
well, the cable box restart didn't do it, but it looks like the TIVO restart may have fixed the channel changing problem
Does anyone have any experience mixing ATA and SATA hard drives in the same machine? My motherboard has connectors for both, but so far I've only installed ATA drives. I'm in the market for a new drive, and I'm considering adding a SATA.
