I came this close to stopping by the Apple store after work last night, just to squee.
In the meantime, I'm about ready to pull my hair out over this wireless thing. I *cannot* get this thing connected. The network is there, the computer claims to be connected, pinging goes smoothly, but I can't access the internet through either Firefox or IE. Right now I'm on someone else's unsecured network (bless you, ryan, whoever you are), so it's definitely something in the settings on my own that's fucking up.
Any ideas? I'm sure at this point it's something totally stupid and obvious, but I'm damned if I can find it.
I'm just downloading the new iTunes right now (AIFG)
I've got the updated iTunes, but haven't connected the iPod yet. Will do that tonight. I did get some artwork for some of the albums I had loaded long ago. It was interesting to see what pulled artwork and what didn't. I haven't figured out a pattern yet.
Brenda, can you ping an outside site? or just the router?
If you can ping outside, can you just ping an IP address, or a URL?
(You coud try 216.109.112.135, which is a Yahoo server.)
If you can ping an outside IP address but not an URL, your computer is not getting DNS server(s) from your router's DHCP server. (Your router is set up to be a DHCP server, right?)
eta: Your router must also be setup to use your ISPs DHCP server.
Oh, when I installed iTunes 7 on my Mini, I just went to the Apple site and downloaded it, instead of waiting for Automatic Update to prompt me.
My iPod now has a backlight brightness control. Pretty sure that wasn't there before.
I'll try all that when I get home tonight.
(Your router is set up to be a DHCP server, right?)
Ummm...I would check that how?
Ummm...I would check that how?
Depends on the router. Most all routers allow you to log into them (with a browser) and change settings.
When you do this, be sure to change your router's default password if you haven't yet.
The only thing I don't like about the new itunes - which didn't happen to me with the old itunes - is that I'm getting distorted sound from itunes when I use other programs while itunes is playing music/podcasts. I have to use other programs while playing itunes - so this distorted sound is not fun.
I'm on a PC. Anyone else experiencing this?

I probably won't use this, as my Mac Mini is backed up once a day to an external drive.
