The only thing I don't like about the new itunes - which didn't happen to me with the old itunes - is that I'm getting distorted sound from itunes when I use other programs while itunes is playing music/podcasts. I have to use other programs while playing itunes - so this distorted sound is not fun.
I'm on a PC. Anyone else experiencing this?
Step by step instructions on how to use the new iTunes back up feature: [link]
I probably won't use this, as my Mac Mini is backed up once a day to an external drive.

No.
But I haven't tried new iTunes on a PC yet - I'll install it now and see what happens (I do lots of processor-intensive stuff on my work PC).
So far no problems with distorted sound on the work PC.
The problem might not be with iTunes, it might be something else that's running on your PC that's hogging the CPU.
OK, iTunes on my work PC is taking an average of 11% of the CPU, but it sometimes jumps up to over 50%. I think that's a lot more than it used to, but I'm not positive.
This is on a 1.80 GHz Pentium 4, with a GB of RAM.
eta: I suppose that iTunes could still be looking for album art, which might explain the spikes in the CPU usage.
okay, I restarted the computer and I think all is well.
So, is this "sync iPod to multiple computers" thing a feature of iTunes 7 (or iPod software update)? Or just the new iPods?

I think it might be a bit of a misnomer actually. The only thing I can find on apple's site that mentions syncing multiple libraries is on the new features for iTunes 7 software and it says:
And if you’ve got iTunes Store purchases you’d like to move from one computer to another, iTunes syncs in reverse, too — from your iPod back to any authorized computer.
I didn't see anything about iPods synching to multiple computers. But I might have just missed it.
I just saw something about how iTunes now allows for multiple music libraries (like iPhoto does), and that there's a way you could take advantage of that to sync an iPod to multiple computers. It sounded like more trouble than it's worth....
