It was too many thing at once. I finally got Orbitz to do it by narrowing the flight times. I'd already booked through Orbitz but out of couriousity I tried Expedia. Got the flight I wanted right away - seems like a smoother inteface if you are doing something more complicated than a simple one-way or round trip. Same price though.

Does anyone know how to get rid of Web Nexus adware? It's on my computer at work. The IT guys have tried to remove it a couple times but it keeps coming back. I've found a few programs that say they'll get rid of it, but they all require admin rights. I'm friendly with one of the tech guys, so if I could say "Try X, it will work," he'd give it a shot, but he's too busy to test four or five different solutions hoping one will work. Purveyors of pop up ads should be smacked. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Btw, I got it looking up song lyrics. I've done it many other times w/o problems, but that's definitely how I got it. So I'm not sure how you should follow my advice to be careful when going to lyrics sites... but be careful when looking up lyrics. Yeah, I know, that's a big help.

Have they tried booting into safe mode and then running the spyware programs? A lot of times those things self-perpetuate on reboot.

Does anyone know offhand how the resolution of a movie on DVD compares to HDTV?

Most DVDs these days are released in 480p (SD television is 480i).

[edit: That's NTSC -- PAL standard def is 576 horizontal lines.]

The two most common ATSC formats in the US are 1080i and 720p. (I have a list at work of which networks use which one, but I don't have it memorized.)

There's no standard resolution for HDTV sets, so if you're in the market for one it's important to look at the native resolution of the specific one you're going to buy. There are a few out there that can display as high as 1080p, but most are native 720p with built-in upconversion of 1080 sources. Anything calling itself "EDTV" is bullshit.

Re: my Web Nexus problem: I'm not sure what IT used to try to get rid of it. Whatever it was it didn't work. I was able to run Ad-Aware without admin rights, but it didn't work. Maybe in safe mode (for which I need admin rights) it would do the trick. I was hoping someone had had a successful removal of the nasty bastard & could take the guesswork out of it. Too busy to worry about it now. Thanks for trying.
